Tenterden, Kent - The Jewel of the Weald
An immersive performance about the rise and fall of Leonards Department Store. Hear the tales in the building where it all began...
From slogan 'Leonards for Quality' to headline 'The Shop Nobody Wants', Leonards Department Store was a retail empire on Rochester High Street from the 1880s until the 1960s.
In this immersive performance, you will be able to witness the history of Leonards through the ages in the building where it all began, Store 104 in Rochester High Street. Enter through the shop doors and you will be greeted by shop staff through the ages. Then join Mr Leonard upstairs to be seated for the main performance which charts the rise and fall of Leonards through drama, comedy and song.
This performance is part of Medway Play Lab CIC's Project Leonards. With support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we have undergone extensive research and held 'Memories Tea Parties' to uncover and preserve all we can about Leonards.
