Subject: Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Curtain Theatre Rochdale
🕵️ WEEK TWO: DIRECTORS’ NOTE - LEAKED 🕵️
This week, the investigation has escalated.
After three big rehearsals, we have now blocked and shaped the whole play. The entire operation is on its feet, the evidence is in motion, and the suspects are beginning to show their true colours.
We are starting to see all of the characters come to life, and even at this early stage, there is so much to enjoy. The pace is ferocious. The chaos is being carefully managed. The laughter is becoming increasingly difficult to suppress.
Some of the individual moments are already making me laugh every time I see them, which is either a very good sign or a serious breach of professional conduct.
From this point onwards, we are running the play. That means tightening the timing, sharpening the details, and pushing the mayhem further — all while beginning to add the next layers of disguise: costumes to try, wigs to test, and no doubt several questionable decisions to be officially denied at a later date.
Rehearsals are already one hell of a ride. The performances, when they arrive, may require crowd control. It is going to be so much fun.
