We’re excited to welcome, Cat Jessop to The Power of Play Conference 🎤

Cat Jessop is a Community and Volunteer Officer at Rochdale Town Hall, since qualifying in Arts Education Cat has worked playful, on a nonstop carousel of arts, heritage and education programmes.

Previously Cat has worked as artist in residence in schools across the North West, created art commissions big and small with the vibrant communities of the North West. Cat has worked with museums and galleries across Rochdale, Oldham and Bury to help them design and deliver playful learning programmes and knock the dust off the display cabinets.

Inspired by the people she works with, energised by a Rochaldian sense of justice, Cat’s the ‘why not?’ on the risk assessment and usually the one in the room quietly aiming for the moon in the most creative, playful way.

We’re excited to welcome Charlotte Derry to The Power of Play Mini Conference 📢

Charlotte Derry of Playful Places, is a play consultant, creative, trainer and coach working in culture, heritage and education. Charlotte manages Playful Places, an organisation which offers play training, play auditing and creative idea-generation - to support museums and cultural venues improve the conditions for children’s play and to provide opportunity for democratic, playful engagement for all.

Charlotte’s clients have included the National Trust, The Cutty Sark, The National Maritime Museum Kids in Museums and numerous local authority museums. She is a Mentor for OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) programme - and leads schools through a process of sustainable culture change to improve the diversity of opportunities at children’s playtimes.

She has also been part of a research team about the success of the play sufficiency duty in Wales, and together with Happy Museum, established the volunteer-led Playful Places Network to provide inspiration and ideas for more play and playing in cultural places.

The countdown is officially on and we can’t wait to welcome everyone for an afternoon full of inspiration, creativity and meaningful conversations about the importance of play.

With that said, let's meet our host: Liz Mytton

Liz is the Creative Director of Theatre in Flow, a cultural organisation that works with marginalised communities in Rochdale and the North of England.

Liz is a playwright, coach and facilitator and also has over 25 years’ experience of using participatory theatre and play to support conversations and change relating to social housing, community engagement and mental health.
