Do you dream of playing to a festival crowd? Here's your chance!

We’re bringing a new annual family-friendly festival to Hare Hill Park – Love Littleborough Festival – on 25th July, and we're looking for 3 talented local acts to join our live music lineup.

We're passionate about supporting up-and-coming musicians and giving local talent a platform to shine. Whether you're a solo artist, duo, or full band, we want to hear from you!

The importance of making music

We made a record! ‘Kenion Street’ is here.

This project means a lot to us, it was a proper labour of love. From the sound quality to the care taken at every stage, we wanted to do it properly, without cutting corners or compromising standards. From telling artists they’d been selected to holding the finished vinyl in our hands, the whole journey took just six months.

Every artist completely smashed their cover. The record is a genuine snapshot of the depth of talent coming out of Rochdale right now. Huge love as well to Nyree for the artwork, it ties the whole thing together beautifully.

Rochdale Music Stories is a collaboration between Rochdale Creates, Stockport Music Story and Voltalab Sound Studios.

You can buy a copy at the Rochdale Music Stories concert at Heywood Civic on March 14th.

2025 has been quite the year for us - possibly our busiest yet!

We’ve recorded albums and EPs with Gallaher's Green, Scatterchild, Isabel Williamson Music, The Donaghys, Lucy Thomas & the Rochdale Music Story. Worked on exciting projects with Brighter Sound, Broaden Studio and Factory International. Been part of the music cohort with GM Business Growth Hub. Released singles that picked up radio play and charted in the UK, plus a charity single with Will Mellor!

It hasn’t been an entirely positive year, there have been challenges alongside the highs, but we’ve come through it with clarity. Prioritising personal wellbeing and working only with the right people is non-negotiable going forward! We’re heading into 2026 with positivity, and are so excited for the projects we’ve already got lined up. If you’re thinking of recording in 2026, get in touch, we’d love to create something with you!

So sad to hear that Will Rush has died. Will had been a regular at the studio since the very beginning, first coming in as a teenager with his brother.

Our love and thoughts are with Debbie, Andy, Tom, Poppy & all those who knew and loved him 🧡

Yesterday we celebrated the release of Chris Connelly’s new book, all about Cargo Studios.

We love the history of the building that we now call our home, so it was ace to get to celebrate it with a stellar line up of guests who have all previously recorded here - Martin Moscrop (A Certain Ratio), Andy McCluskey (OMD), Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order) & Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets).

Great to see John Brierley back behind the desk!
