Oooooh - Look what’s hanging in the window of the new picture framers and gallery that has opened in our village. Exciting!!!! And a bit surreal 🤣😍
It’s got me thinking about ‘firsts’. And how each small first step adds up to massive shifts in direction.
The first time I picked up a pencil and drew something after a thirty year hiatus.
The first life drawing class.
The first painting.
The first time I posted my art on instagram.
The first sale.
The first open studio.
The first show.
The first art fair.
The first time my painting is on display in a gallery window.
Each first takes courage because saying yes comes with risk. The risk of failure, of not being good enough, of never being good enough, of being judged, of the shame that comes with being seen and with chasing down your dreams.
But each yes shifts your direction, almost imperceptibly. One shift, then another, and another. Until one day you realise you’re actually ‘doing the thing.’ And it feels kind of crazy, and unreal and exciting and quite scary, all at the same time 🤩
I guess what I’m getting at is this. If you have a dream, get out there and take the first step, however small. Because all it takes is that first one degree shift and a little bit of courage 💖✨
