Kirsty Greenwood illustration Traditional analogue illustrator. Product design of the year winner at The Hotel Designs Brit List 2021.

I am an illustrator who works mainly within the realm of short fiction stories both for printed and online publications. With experience in many aspects of artwork, my passion is for imagery that accompanies literature based in the surreal: myths, legends and folklore and gothic fairy tales; I have also exhibited work in galleries internationally. With my work focused on the idea of embracing chan

ge; I use methods such as marbling and ink blowing to create a base for images- fashioning a picture that transforms at each stage. I then employ the traditional techniques of drawing alongside ink and paint washes to further make the image, picking out details to promote the telling of the tale through visions filled with narrative, allure and beings from around the allegorical world. Inspired by pareidolia, aboriginal cultures, and Quixotism; my work has its roots in dreamlike non-realities. I create Art contained by the influences and ideas of transformation to build images full of detailed phantasmagoria, unusual scenarios and creatures, which often convey feelings of otherworldly states. Motivated by a lifelong desire to become a commercial artist- with the advantage of an illustrative mind-set- I aim to create art shaped by metaphysical worlds, ephemeral visual misunderstanding, transient half-light, metamorphosis, ocular strangeness, nightmares, dreams and fleeting glimpses of unreality, all of which inform my methods and the work I produce.

The stone, releasing poisonous gas, killed everything that touched it.

It split into two in March '22, releasing and dark forces across Japan...

has won the for his novel Trail of Shadows published by Huge congratulations, Mike!

I created the artwork used as part of the duplex covers for the book - the color printing on the interior covers, front and back.

Made using marbled paper to represent the topological landscape and maps of the Appalachians, and hand drawn illustration of the astral realm added digitally.
