What a journey this has been!

I can’t believe I have just submitted my final year dissertation. With only one final piece of work left to submit before graduating in July, I can officially say I have finished my BA (Hons) Technical Theatre Arts degree at .

Next week, I start my new full-time job within the theatre and live events tech world before I have even graduated, which is both amazing and very scary! I’m excited to finally be using my degree in the big wide world.

Thank you to everyone for all your support throughout my degree, I truly appreciate it and I look forward to starting this next chapter and working within the industry.

What a journey this has been!

I can’t believe I have just submitted my final year dissertation. With only one final piece of work left to submit before graduating in July, I can officially say I have finished my BA (Hons) Technical Theatre Arts degree at Falmouth University .

Next week, I start my new full-time job within the theatre and live events tech world before I have even graduated, which is both amazing and very scary! I’m excited to finally be using my degree in the big wide world.

Thank you to everyone for all your support throughout my degree, I truly appreciate it and I look forward to starting this next chapter and working within the industry.

Three years have flown by in the blink of an eye.

Cider with Rosie marks my final practical show at university, and getting to design both the lighting and sound has been such an honour.

Grateful for every challenge, every lesson, and every moment that brought me here.

🎭 Lighting / Sound Tech Looking for Work (Cornwall & South West) 🎭

Hi everyone! I’m Roo Chance, a final year BA (Hons) Technical Theatre Arts student at Falmouth University, graduating this July, and I’m currently looking for freelance or full-time work starting now and post-graduation.

I’m based in Cornwall, and I’m happy to travel across the South West, including Devon and Plymouth, especially when working with a freelance team or company.

I’m mainly looking for lighting roles, but I also have solid experience in sound and am happy to work across stage and technical roles.

Experience includes:
• Lighting design, rigging & operation (ETC Eos + some Avolites)
• Sound engineering, design, PA setup & QLab
• Stage crew, rigging & stage management
• Running tech and operating many shows while studying at university
• Sound & Lighting Designer for my final year show – Cider With Rosie
• Lighting Operator for live gigs at the Cornish Bank, Falmouth

Recent professional work:
• Casual Stage Crew – Hall for Cornwall (Truro)
• Lighting Designer – Matilda JNR (Brannel School)
• Sound Engineer – Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival
• Live sound – bands at Carnglaze Caverns

Wow, what a fantastic night working in Falmouth as the lighting technician for .

Swipe to see some of the different lighting looks and effects used throughout this incredible gig.

It was such an amazing show to be part of, and my first proper gig using Avolites lighting software. I had a wonderful time exploring the effects, creating bold colour moments, and syncing everything with the energy and tempo of the DJ sets.

Looking forward to being back at The Cornish Bank again very soon for another great night.

Wow what a year 2025 has been. From becoming casual stage crew at Hall for Cornwall, to working as sound engineer in the Caverns at Carnglaze, to even running the sound at the Falmouth Shanty Festival and also designing lighting for a school production of Matilda Junior. It has been a blast.
