Redcar Dance Studio (formerly known as Unique School of Dance) has been running for 30 years. Principal Trudie Ayton and former pupil Tamsin Ireland offer a variety of dance classes for age 3 to adult in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz/ Musical Theatre and Acro Gymnastics. RDS students are given the opportunity to both perform and progress. Students are invited (if wanted) to take part in examinations i
n both ISTD and BATD syllabi. We also take part in regular dance competitions and have regular shows giving children the opportunity to perform on stage. In the past we have performed at Disneyland Paris, in London West End Theatres, Sunderland Empire, Middlesbrough Little Theatre and many events around the North East. We believe that dance is an important part of development as not only is it a fun hobby, it also helps to nurture the skills which will take a child through life: team work, focus, determination, hard work, discipline and improved self esteem, as well as the benefits of partaking in Physical Exercise- improves coordination, flexibility, stamina and muscle tone. Past students have gone on to work professionally worldwide, including among others, in Musical Theatre: West Side Story-Italian Tour, 42nd Street- Germany, Jesus Christ Superstar- Germany, Spamalot- Germany,
