Reading will soon have a new home of grassroots comedy.

From September 2026 Pentahotel will host weekly Friday night club comedy. It will also be the new home of our weekly Monday evening open mic. 🎤🔥

We want to thank for supporting our open mic over the last few years and help us build a vibrant community!

Our last show at the venue will take place on July 13.

Live at the Pentahotel will create a platform for new and emerging talent, promote working class voices and bring top acts to Reading.

We can't wait for Mates Rates Comedy to take it's next steps in Reading. This is the start of something incredible.

Lee Hudson’s brand of personal storytelling and self deprecation has seen his reputation grow across the UK comedy circuit and beyond. He has performed across the world, provided tour support for the likes of Tom Stade, Justin Moorhouse, Vittorio Angelone and also opened for US comedians Dan Soder, Andy Haynes and JF Harris. Headliner: Abi Mohanti

Abi is a Berlin based comedian. Born in India, she didn’t go far from the stereotype of being a software engineer. While that fills her pockets, comedy fills the void in her heart. Her comedy is a powerful blend of satire and raw honesty, shedding light on the often-taboo subjects of religious dogma and the psychological scars of a restrictive upbringing. Currently converting childhood trauma into jokes one show at a time, Abi has been performing all over Europe, usually in places where Ryanair goes. She recently won the brutal King Gong at the Comedy Store in London in a desperate attempt to make her parents proud.

2023 is looking like a promising year.

His show, 'The Generation Gap' (a show essentially about growing up with Grandparents) will be debuting at the Edinburgh Fringe in August.

Andy Gleeks is a stand-up comedian known for his engaging and anecdotal style. He has been active on the comedy circuit for several years, establishing himself as a natural MC who effortlessly engages audiences with warmth and charm. His performances often draw from his experiences in both Ireland and England, delivering self-deprecating humor through conversational and anecdotal narratives.

Micah Hall

Micah Hall has quickly become a rising star in the comedy scene with his unique blend of hard-hitting honesty and laid-back humour. He regularly performs at the UK’s most legendary comedy venues including Up The Creek, The Comedy Store and West End Comedy, solidifying his status as one of the most exciting new talents in the industry.

Micah has performed stand up on BAFTA winning The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan and won a much coveted place on the annual Pleasance Comedy Reserve at the Edinburgh Fringe. He also joined Babatunde Aléshé as support on his smash hit nationwide tour.

Anna thought she was just a generic scientist, but turns out she’s so much less: now she a comedian. She’s been praised for her “skillfully constructed anecdotes” (Chortle) and “good natured, witty jabs” (One4Review). Chortle student award winner 2025.

Lenny Sherman is a comedian, actor and lovable Cockney geezer.

In the world of stand-up he’s a comedy circuit veteran performing gigs since 2010 for Downstairs At The Kings Head, Top Secret, Comedy Unleashed, Comedy Hotspot, Always Be Comedy, Glee, Off The Kerb and numerous other clubs around the UK and abroad in countries such as France, Greece and Turkey.

Lenny made his Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2018 with Make The World a Better Place at Just The Tonic and returned in 2019 with his follow up show Have Fun.

He’s been tour support for Jerry Sadowitz and Clinton Baptiste and recently one of his stand up clips went viral notching up over a million views!
