Thank you every who came to the last every RAW at The Outlook on Monday and the last ever George Street Comedy Club. 🙏🥹🥳

Mates Rates Comedy will be back in September.

We are launching a new comedy venue at Live at The Pentahotel in September... and in Oxford we are moving to Pegasus Theater!

The next step of our club is the most exciting one yet and we hope you can be part of it. Just remember to apply via the established process if you are a comedian.

When it comes to thinking of great comedy partnerships, a new one is rising to the top here - Mates Rates Comedy Club and the Penta Hotel!

From September, they'll be bringing you the Friday Night Comedy Club, with some of the best comedians working the UK comedy circuit taking the stage every Friday night.

And their Monday Night RAW open mic night will be moving to the Penta Hotel in September, too - following a leaving party at the Outlook on 13 July where they promise to do something special (but just don't know what yet)

There is no George Street Comedy Club this Friday as we ease into the summer break!

George Street Comedy Club is back on Friday July 10 with headliner David Ward.

George Street Comedy Club will take place at The Wig and Pen, between 8pm - 10pm (doors open 7:30pm).

Every Friday 4 circuit acts and a pro-club headliner will take the stage in the loft room at the Wig and Pen.

Expect high drama, big laughs, revelations! It is all happening at George Street Comedy Club with a new lineup each week.

David Ward is in demand as both an MC and headliner in stand up comedy clubs across the UK and Europe. He has supported a number of major TV stand up comedians on tour, including Lee Hurst and Tom Stade.

He is also in demand for his TV warm up work and has performed for the troops in Kuwait and the UAE. His spontaneity made him the choice host for the heats of the BBC’s New Comedy Awards and Channel 5’s So You Think You’re Funny?.

David’s Edinburgh Festival show ‘The Whole Truth and Nothing But…’ was performed to great acclaim, proving his skills as a writer, storyteller and actor in addition to his stand up skills.

x4 walk on spots will be available at The Outlook every Monday
Sign up is between 6:15pm - 7pm. If you arrive late you might not be allocated a spot.
Spots will be allocated on a first come first serve basis
Performers must stick to their time.

Reading will soon have a new home of grassroots comedy.

From September 2026 Pentahotel will host weekly Friday night club comedy. It will also be the new home of our weekly Monday evening open mic. 🎤🔥

We want to thank for supporting our open mic over the last few years and help us build a vibrant community!

Our last show at the venue will take place on July 13.

Live at the Pentahotel will create a platform for new and emerging talent, promote working class voices and bring top acts to Reading.

We can't wait for Mates Rates Comedy to take it's next steps in Reading. This is the start of something incredible.
