⭐THE PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVAL 2021⭐
This is a long post, but very exciting!
‘A virtual celebration of the performing arts hosted by Reading University Drama Society.’
THE PLAN
The festival will take place over a number of weeks, with hour long episodes going out on the RUDS Youtube Channel showcasing a variety of talent. The number of episodes will depend on how many submissions we get! We also plan to have things going on during this time on our social media platforms (eg take over days, instagram challenges) that we hope you and/or your society will get involved with!
Each show will be released on the RUDS youtube channel and a justgiving page will be attached in the description. The charities that we hope to support are Mind, the Silas Pullen Fund and Dreamflight, but this will be determined by the number of episodes we are able to create.
SUBMISSIONS
We are reaching out to anyone and everyone that may have something they wish to submit to the festival. This could be something brand new that you have prepared specifically for this showcase, or a performance you have created for something else previously and really want to share again! This can be
A solo performance
A group performance (either filmed pre-COVID or filmed virtually and edited together)
Singing
Dancing
Performance of a monologue
Playing a musical instrument
Sketches
or anything else you can think of!
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF RUDS TO SUBMIT SOMETHING TO THE PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVAL! However, please note when submitting a performance that RUDS committee has the right to not allow it be presented as part of the festival if it is deemed inappropriate.
We must stress that everything must be performed and filmed in accordance with current COVID guidance. Please make sure that you are NOT meeting with anyone outside of your household to film whilst we are in a national lockdown.
Your performance can range from the most dramatic performance of a monologue from a Shakespearian tragedy to the most silly production of a musical theatre song! We want anything and everything!
You can submit as MANY numbers as you like! However, when you send them over to us they must be completely ready to go - we cannot edit them for you. PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL VIDEOS MUST BE IN LANDSCAPE!
We are also planning on running different workshops to create some group numbers, so keep an eye out for more information about those coming soon!
Please list on the google doc attached any numbers you are planning to submit. It doesn’t have to be set in stone yet, it’s just so we know how many performances we are expecting to allow us to plan accordingly. If you are unsure of what performances you will be submitting but know that you would definitely like to be part of the festival, please just drop us a message expressing your interest!
All videos must be submitted by TUESDAY 16TH FEBRUARY 2021.
Please send all videos to [email protected] - if a file is too big to send over email, we recommend sending it via WeTransfer using the same details as if you were sending it via email. Please include your name and anything else you would want mentioned when your performance is introduced, eg what society you belong to, if you have any socials that you would like to be shouted out.
