Katy Stevens is an established artist and graphic designer and lives in rural Hampshire.

She paints with oils, acrylics and mixed media creating stunning compositions that use vivid colours, textures and finishes to create a distinctive and magical style. Katy, the founder of Doodles has built a reputation for her original, creative designs using 3D elements and resin. With her background in graphic design, her compositions always have a strong sense of design and style and her love o

f nature and colour are a distinctive element within her work. Her often large scale pieces contain a rich tapestry of textures and finishes. As well as a number of originals for sale, the majority of her work is available to order as prints and is often hand embellished with the resins and metallic elements that make the work so magical. The large scale sculptures such as ‘Moondance’ are offered for sale as unique and one off pieces and cannot be reproduced. The moon gazing hare… the enigmatic shape shifter, is the ultimate symbol of Spring and new beginnings. The spiritual ‘Three Hares’ motif goes back more than a thousand years and uniquely can be found as icons throughout the worlds major religions. There are many thoughts as to its meaning but they all carry a similar vein: Love and fertility; Life, death and afterlife; Past, present and future; Morning, noon and night; and the cycle of life itself. My piece is called ‘MOONDANCE’ and is loaded to the brim with symbolism; painted on to the darkest of green earth and midnight blue sky background, translucent moths fly upwards towards the bright silver moon that represent the messengers between the living and the dead, exotic orchids bloom to represent love and passion and the three hares in the light of the moon for the eternal cycle of love and life.

Thursday 06 October and it’s National Poetry Day! Dylan and I spent the morning with author and poet Becci Louise Fearnley and our lovely friends at Falkland Grange Care Home. We have so much fun here and have got to know some wonderful people over the course of our year long residency. 📖
