Our Story
READING REP YOUTH THEATRE RRYT aims to produce a high quality youth theatre provision which appeals to young people who are creative and want to hone their skills and work with like-minded people. By being attached to a regional producing theatre – our young people have the opportunity to work with award winning directors and playwrights, see our work at a discounted rate and be a part of a young and vibrant organisation. For young people who want to pursue a career in the performing arts, there is a clear pathway to join Reading Studio – a full time Further Education performing arts provision jointly run by Reading Rep and Reading College. For those that don’t – these sessions are fun and creative, building many transferable skills. Reading Rep Youth Theatre is an inclusive company – we offer concession rates and bursaries; ensuring equality of access for all. Money will never be a barrier to participation. Reading Rep has been shortlisted and won awards for their work with children and young people, including being shortlisted for the 2017 Reading Place of Culture Award for Best Education Project and being a finalist for the Young Talent Award. Reading Rep won the Cultural Award – Support for Young People in the Arts at the Pride of Reading Awards in 2016.
