Cake + a dessert table is my most popular package. They are popping up more and more and I won’t lie - I always find it extremely triggering when I see people start to replicate stuff I do but 2023 is the year that I’m working on being okay with that 🙌🏻
It does mean that people see how incredible these are - they really elevate the cake element of your wedding day!
When we got married we had a « goûter », meaning sort of afternoon tea, before dinner - I made hundreds of cookies, meringues, brownies, mini tarts, and so on. Then we had dinner and then a 4 tier cake - wayyyy more food than what 70 people could eat!
But here are things that people still mention to me, 8 years later:
✨my dress. It wasn’t white, it wasn’t traditional, and it wasn’t what people imagined me in. It was way more than what I had written in our original budget spreadsheet (which I soon binned cause following blog posts saying how much you should spend on things means NOTHING) as it cost £5,000 and I don’t regret it one second;
✨our ceremony. My sister led it, our friends and family did speeches and reading, and it was pure magic. Everyone was crying. It may not mean something legally but it sure as hell means something!
✨all our cakes and sweet bites. Ranging from « it’s one of the only weddings I’ve been to where I never went hungry » to « we actually loved the food », « it wasn’t stuffy or boring » - it made an absolute splash!
The fun part is those three things were what most important to us - our outfit, the ceremony, and the food. And people could tell and were impacted by them too. THIS is what you need to think about when planning your wedding and your budget - what do you want you and your guests to remember?
