Excited about this long term collaboration with Nation of Refuge Research and Public Engagement Project; to understand and reimagine Britain’s Relationship with Refugees.

We were delighted to share a stall together at the Community Festival the other week, with .merl and a host of interesting research partners.

We’re proud to celebrate our Non-Executive Director, Merry Cross, poet, disability activist and powerful voice for justice.

Merry performed at Disability Pride Radical Reset in Brighton, an event that placed disabled people front and centre, with no input from charities or large corporations.

Her set moved from the old Scottish story of the Silkies, about not fitting in until finding your people, to poems on sea swimming, welfare not warfare, care, immigration, climate change and collective fury.

In Merry’s words, We Are the Storm brings together “the effects of climate change and our fury at the inhumane policies” disabled people and migrant communities have faced for decades.

We are honoured to have Merry as part of Rank & File Theatre.

Our performance at the Reading Citizens’ Accountability Assembly was built from conversations with communities across Reading, including from Whitley Community Café

Common Ground tells a collective story about home as something made through relationships, contribution and everyday care, not through paperwork, borders or labels.

It reminds us that home is a shared responsibility. Community is formed by everyday acts of care, and belonging grows when people are seen, listened to and allowed to contribute.

These are real lives, real pressures and real choices faced by diverse communities in Reading, and a reminder that common ground already exists if we choose to stand on it together.

With thanks to everyone involved across Reading Citizens Alliance of .uk, including The Reading Minster, Basingstoke and Reading Methodist Circuit and Reading Deanery.

On Earth Day, when the world can feel like it is falling apart, we invite you to our play exploring division and unity. Inspired by conversations at a community café in Reading, we follow the journeys made, the words we share and the paths we cross on our humble planet. We return to Common Ground.

Thanks to our wonderful crew who represented and spoke so well about our community at the Minster Church and the issues that are important to us.

Great presentations by a number of local community organisations and the University on housing, homelessness, saftey and open spaces, accessibility and Reading as a town of Sanctuary. 🧡 .uk
