An Ekiden is a long-distance, multi-stage road relay race originating in Japan, where teams of runners pass a traditional cloth sash called a tasuki instead of a baton. The name translates to “station to station,” referencing the ancient courier systems that relayed official documents

One of our favourite moments is watching the Ray Cooney Auditorium come to life before a show. As the chatter fades and the lights begin to dim, you can feel the collective excitement in the air - it is the exact moment the theatre magic begins ✨

Watching our audience transport into the world of ‘Jack & Sarah’ is incredibly rewarding for our entire team. A massive thank you for your continued support; seeing a happy, buzzing house makes every single hour of hard work behind the scenes completely worthwhile.

Champions! The Mill at Sonning were proud sponsors of the U7 Rotherfield United FC boys team for their 2025/26 season.

This talented group only lost one game in their entire season and this past weekend won the cup final 2-1, and lifted their first trophy.

The waterwheel still turns, just as it has for generations.

At the forefront of The Mill at Sonning, the original mill building remains a living part of the space. Once a working watermill, it has been carefully transformed into the theatre you see today, while still holding onto the rhythm and character of its past.

It is from this history that The Mill takes its name and its identity. A rare place where heritage is not just remembered, but still quietly in motion.
