Mourne MERGE - Treasure Hunt & BBQ - TONIGHT 🚘🍔

MERGE is running a treasure hunt and BBQ, TONIGHT, Saturday 6th June

🚘Treasure Hunt moves off from Kilkeel Orange Hall at 7:30.

🍔Finishing at Cranfield - With burgers from 9:00

Late teens and twenties - £5 per person

Last year it was a great evening with a big crowd and everyone who attended enjoyed themselves!

Today we remember the family of Bro Herbert McConville of Tierfergus LOL 575 on the 40th anniversary of his cowardly murder by PIRA terrorists in Newry.

Bro McConville was a Ex UDR and WW2 Veteran

SEFF remembers Herbert McConville who was murdered by Provisional IRA terrorists.

Herbert was a 61-year-old Protestant civilian, married with one child and a delivery driver who was a former member of the UDR.

Herbert was making his regular weekly meat delivery to a cafe in Kilmorey Street, Newry when he was shot by the Provisional IRA.

At 10:30am he returned to his vehicle when a pillion passenger on a motorcycle opened fire.

Herbert was a former member of the UDR holding the rank of Sergeant and was hit with 15 low velocity bullets when the town was packed with shoppers.

A woman said: "I was speaking to him just before he left the cafe and then the shots rang out. I looked across the road to see him lying beside his van".

Herbert was from Spelga Drive, Rathfriland and served in the armed forces during World War 2 and in 1981, he left the UDR. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Daisy Hill Hospital, Newry.

SEFF’s thoughts and prayers are with all innocents impacted by Herbert’s brutal murder.

We remember with gratitude the bravery and sacrifice of all who served and those who never came home. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

Today marks 105 years of the formation of "Our Wee Country"

Today we remember Bro William Heenan who was cruelly murdered at his home by PIRA terrorists 41 years ago.

This callous and senseless murder left Williams son Sammy, whom was only 12, an orphan.

Michelle O'Neill will have you believe there was no alternative. The terrorist who shot Bro Heenan in the back of the head at point blank range had a choice. He chose to murder William knowing the devastation it would cause.
