The ScrapStore at EKM The ScrapStore @ EKM saves safe, clean ‘scrap’ craft materials from landfill. suggested donation of £5. All money is raised for East Kent Mencap.

We welcome visitors to browse and put together a basket of craft materials for a min. We are open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10am to 2pm. Our address is:
Foresters Hall, Meeting Street, Ramsgate, CT11 9RT. The entrance to the ScrapStore is in the dead end of Meeting Street, please ring the doorbell at the big red doors. There will be a sign hung on the railings outside the doors. Please do not use the main East Kent Mencap entrance which has a window in the door.

The ScrapStore is all about giving materials a second life.

Every item you see in our shop has been donated to us to help keep it out of landfill. We sort, organise and prepare everything so it’s ready to be used again.

Visitors can then pick up a basket, fill it with craft and creative materials, and take it away for a minimum £5 donation.

That £5 helps support East Kent Mencap, a small charity supporting adults with a learning disability to learn new skills, build confidence and thrive in their communities.

This Learning Disability Week, we're also launching our Ashford Hub appeal to help furnish a new space for the people we support.

Our volunteer Cathy made this beautiful top for her using repurposed fabric from The ScrapStore.

Not only that, Janice made herself a matching bag using the same fabric!

Last week, our volunteers were busy taking on a button-sorting marathon! 🧵🩷 With thousands of buttons, beads, ribbons, fabrics and all sorts of creative bits and bobs passing through The ScrapStore, there's always something to organise.

We love seeing what our regular visitors create with materials from The ScrapStore 🩷

Regular visitor Val has made another beautiful patchwork quilt using ScrapStore materials - and has kindly donated it back to East Kent Mencap to be raffled off and raise money for the charity.

We also loved seeing regular visitor John’s latest project. John, a children’s illustrator, showed us the colour wheel he has created using ScrapStore paper as part of his experiments in colour theory collage. He popped back in recently to fill a few gaps and see if we had any new colours since his last visit a week earlier… luckily, we did!

We’ve recently had this Sizzix eclips shape-cutting machine donated to The ScrapStore, complete with lots of extras including cartridges and cutting mats.

It’s in very good condition and comes with loads of accessories, making it a brilliant find for anyone into crafting, scrapbooking or creative projects. Available now from The ScrapStore - visit us if you’re interested!
