I’ve uploaded a few new Christmas cards to my Etsy shop.
I’m posting them first class so still time to reach friends and family in the U.K. before Christmas

Thank you so much for all the lovely comments about my hare drawing. This is another piece I finally got around to finishing. I started it over 2 years ago when sadly , Saffi, my cousin’s dog died

As many of you know, I haven’t been in the best of health for a few years. This Summer I was commenced on oxygen therapy. I knew with my diagnosis it was what faced me and I do feel quite vulnerable and self conscious however it definitely helps me to feel better and after a long time too exhausted to do any artwork I’ve managed to pick up my pencils again.
I hope you like my hare drawing

I've been putting this off for a few weeks (just too painful 😥) but thought I should honour the memory of my beloved Buddy who died just a couple of months following our beloved Jethro.
We miss him so much, he always gave the best cuddles. He was our loyal faithful friend, always stayed close by

As many of you know, I’ve been struggling to find time for my beloved artwork with my health problems and looking after our terminally ill dog.
It was a pleasure to create this portrait of Murphy, sadly he too has crossed the rainbow bridge 🌈
Such a thoughtful gift to keep his memory alive. 💝
I was so grateful for my client’s empathy and understanding of why it took me a while to create as I’m also grateful to my current client who wants me to create a Christmas gift. It helps not to feel rushed and pressured, I’ve just turned down a commission request for Father’s Day. I wouldn’t want to turn out anything below my usual standard by rushing.

Well what can I tell you about our special boy Jethro? 🐶

We got him to keep our older Labrador, Buddy fit and active 🏋️‍♂️

On the first day of bringing 12-week-old Jethro home he jumped the baby gates so we knew we had a handful. He would bounce around like Tigger 🐯

Once we hired a cottage with an enclosed garden (or so we thought). Whilst David was bathing naked in the outdoor hot tub Jethro decided to jump the wall with around 8ft drop into the next garden, beyond that was a steep drop. I was frantically trying to coax him back while he went exploring. An elderly lady came out and I don’t know if I was more scared of losing Jethro, or if she would catch an eyeful of David. Thankfully he jumped back to safety, such a good boy 🫣

He never liked being alone so often would always keep me company while I created my artwork 🎨

In his last weeks when we learned about his terminal cancer we took it in turns to sleep with him downstairs. We were fortunate we had already booked a week in a lovely cottage right by a Northumberland beach a month before he died. He’d lost a lot of weight and had slowed down, but he had an amazing time jogging along the beach and managed a few paddles in the sea, he’d lost his appetite for his dog food but would enjoy eating a fish. He loved watching the sunrise over the sea 🌅

We couldn’t let him go while he was still wagging his tail, but we got to the end of our street when he lay down and wouldn’t stand up. A neighbour carried him home to his favourite spot. He managed to move to the lawn for a few hours, Buddy our Lab and myself lay with him 💗

When Charlie arrived from Halo Vets both dogs were very calm, Jethro didn’t flinch when given his sedative and drifted peacefully to sleep cradled in my hands, Buddy stayed by his side and even had a paw on David’s hand 🫂

It’s been heartbreaking losing Jethro but we found great comfort seeing him go so peacefully and Charlie gave us the confidence to know the time was right to say goodbye 🕊️

Did you know that in addition to experiencing stress and fear, animals such as dogs and horses can suffer from tinnitus, hearing loss and long-term hearing damage caused by fireworks?

Similarly, livestock such as horses often try to escape the bangs out of fear, sometimes injuring themselves in the process 😔

During the 2023 fireworks season, 67% of respondents to our impact reporting survey highlighted that private backyard displays were the cause of their animals' distress.

If your animals were affected by fireworks last night, please fill out our short survey: https://bit.ly/3YIqpam

I’m so sorry I haven’t been well enough to create any new work but just a reminder that I have lots of cards and indeed prints of my art still available.
Hoping to pick up my pencils again soon 🙏🏻x

Yay! Jethro has made it to his 12th birthday.
He’s still very energetic and has lived a mostly healthy life but a few weeks ago he had a health scare when he’d eaten a mystery object that caused internal bleeding. Thankfully after an overnight stay at the vets he made a full recovery and is back to his happy, playful self 😁
