Hiya everyone, just a quick update to the line-up. Unfortunately the Cardboard Shoes are unable to play this week. Booooooo!
So we’ve been trying all weekend to get a replacement and today the fantastic
Toria Wooff
said that she would be able to fill the slot instead. So massive thanks to her and what a lucky bunch you all are. Hurrrraaay!!!

Remember - it's Shangri La tonight, tonight, tonight!

Aaaaaand this month we've teamed up with the delightful people from Heaton Park Food Pantry - https://www.facebook.com/HeatonParkFoodPantry/ - who provide food and cleaning supplies for families who are struggling - a lovely warm and friendly space with free hot drinks and biscuits, twice a week, at the church next door to the Carlton Club, Prestwich (the venue for Shangri La btw...).

BUT they need donations to keep going. So please, if you can, bring along some stuff when you come along tonight - tins, cleaning goods, tea bags, toilet rolls, shampoo, you know the score, right?

No worries if you don't bring anything, but big love if you do. X

We are a Food Pantry and Warm Space café open twice a week in the community halls of Heaton Park Methodist Church. We offer up a cheap way to top up the weekly shop as well as a space to stay and chat.

Right!

Because you lot are so lovely and insist on hugging and kissing each other to a disproportionate level for such a small number of the population, it has been decided here at Shangri-La! Towers that you are basically a potential biohazard that could wipe out the entire planet. For this reason, i.e. to save the world from a Prestwich centered viral time bomb, we have decided to cancel Shangri-La! For the foreseeable future, until you can all be trusted not to get drunk and snog each other, touch each other, drool on each other and generally breathe out in close proximity to one another. To try and counter the vast chasm this will leave in your lives, on Friday 27th March we will be posting 2 playlists on Spotify (accessed via this group). One will contain music from the many acts that have played at Shangers over the years, the other will be a dirty disco playlist for you to reenact the late hours of a Shangers night in the comfort of your own self isolation. Get yourself some wine and beer and pretend that its all just happening as normal. We’d love to see pictures of what you get up to, even if its not Shangers based. We are a lovely little community of di*****ds, so let the dickishness continue.

So, bit of bad news, Captain Hotknives is poorly sick and has had to pull out of tonight's Shangri La at Carlton Club, Prestwich. But fear not, we will be joined by Robert Steventon! Robert is a poet well known for many years on the open mic circuit around Cheshire, Manchester and the North West. As well as writing poetry Rob also hosts a successful popular and diverse open mic night in Manchester called Punk in Drublic. His is a voice that mixes a observant humour with a sardonic and at times cutting wit, with a clear social conscience and heart. – Chris Godber
