Powerful stuff. Art from plastic found on the beach.
Just some of my images on display in my exhibition North Berwick until June. It’s open every day 10-5 and entry to the exhibition is free (although donations to the work of the Seabird Centre encouraged!)
The exhibition is a document of a beach clean I did involving 100 visits to the same small stretch of beach during which I collected 26,513 pieces of plastic. The types and sources were shockingly diverse and represented pretty much everything we use on a day to day basis so I decided to showcase what I found in 61 studio style photos each representing a different category of plastic found.
The plastic was then donated to local artist who has created an incredible mural which can be seen outside the exhibition space in the harbour area.
Please do come and see it, share this post far and wide. I’ve already had some incredibly powerful conversations with visitors who have come through in the past two days and it’s been amazing to witness the deep reactions to the huge issues which the exhibition presents.
