SOUTH RIBBLE COMIC CON 2019.
Are you, are you, coming to the tree...strange things are happening, happening you see... so are you... are you... coming to the tree? These are the first lyrics from the song that Katniss Everdeen sings in the ‘Hunger Games’ movie. It is a powerful statement reflecting on how she feels and how the people are also feeling and why they follow her in her fight to topple the ruthless government of the day.
The ‘Hunger Games’ films have so many different facets and interesting characters on different levels, that makes it a worthwhile piece of movie history. It can also be thought of, as a story, that in some way mirrors the problems of present day society which is why we chose to incorporate the ‘Hunger Games’ theme for South Ribble Comic Con. Our purpose and hope is to fundraise and make a contribution to the lives of the homeless in the local and surrounding area of South Ribble. We intend to do this by donating non perishable items of food to the local food bank. So we appeal to fans attending to kindly help by donating a non perishable item of food.
In terms of the comic con content,... our decision to introduce the ‘Hunger Games’ theme was because we wanted to aspire to do something that little bit different, that edges away from the usual mainstream superhero and sci-fi agenda; although in part, the comic con will still feature a good mix, of Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Superhero's to boot to maintain and uphold the usual comic con tradition! Therefore, you can still expect to see those usual cosplay outfits,...like Spider-Man, Iron Man etc but also hopefully, cosplayer's that want to draw on the popular characters and various costume's portrayed in the ‘Hunger Games’ films!
Lets remember its about having fun, and enjoying the moment, whilst at the same time, helping in any way we can, to support the 'homeless' in the local and surrounding area of South Ribble. For this we the organisers thank you!
