My hand spun/knitted tulip jumper is done! Couldn’t resist a little matchy moment 🤭🌷

Feel free to see my previous post captions for more on the yarn and pattern I used, I have little energy today to convey much more.. but this will certainly not be the last you see and hear about this jumper.. it took me many hours and deserve a flaunt, don’t you think? Fern wants one now.. gotta be quick before Oona outgrows hers… 🌷😋

Gotta love a bit of spring time knitting, especially cute handspun floral motifs like this one🌷I don’t know about you all but I am so inspired by all the emerging pops of colour and slowly warming brighter days.

I’ve been meaning to share this current project with you all for a little while but life is whizzing by as I immerse myself in motherhood, nourishment and college. I know the time will come back around to create more again, surrendering to the change of pace was difficult at first but I’m finding my flow. Relieving the pressure and pull of creating a finished thing and instead savouring the slow stitches one by one. Before having Oona I got into a real creative flow, creating sooo much! I loved it but after this break I realise I got so fixated on end products, too fixated in fact. it’s really great to let go of this and falling in love with the process all over again. Remembering that the finished project is actually just a super cool bonus of a meditative relaxing process 🌀

I am working with my handspun yarns (swipe to see!) for my floral/folk arty spring inspired motif that I designed for my yougests cardigan. I loved it so much and decided I needed my own version! I’ve been eyeying up the pattern by for a while now so thought I would give it a go with some adjustments.. so far so good.. 🌻

Big love fibre friends 🧶💛

Oona’s knitted cardigan is finished 🌷 I am so pleased. knitted from beautiful british wool and my handspun yarn.. soft, warm and sustainable.
I designed the colourwork myself and the pattern is based on the ‘max baby cardigan’ via Marianna’s lazy days. A lovely little free pattern 😊

I was hoping to get some better photographs to share with you (i.e not in a car park 😛), but the weather has been grey, miserable and ever so windy so we have been mostly indoors. Hopefully the sun will shine upon us a little in the coming weeks 🙏

I am one step forwards two steps back with this knit and do you know why?
Because I have an aversion to a measuring tape 🫣 It really shouldn’t be this hard, I have redone the sleeves twice and they are still too short, I also knit the body too short, turns out a tape measure is far more accurate than my eye 🤪 After it’s rather lengthy planning/handspinning stage it has become my ‘ahhhh my baby won’t sleep and I need a relaxing evening’ kinda knit and the tape measure would have clearly killed the vibe. 🤡 Why am I like this.
Silver lining is that I knit the colourwork wrong on the bottom so at least being forced into correcting it means that it won’t ni**le me anymore.. It’s a shame because I have put a lot of work into creating this design, spinning the yarn etc etc and I really have enjoyed and savoured each bit, however, I’m beginning to feel a little… itchy.. for a new project. Do you ever feel itchy towards the end of a long project, ready for something fresh? I think redoing fuels this feeling in me, it’s so much harder to go backwards huh!?

Anywho, I will hopefully have this finished cardigan ready to flaunt on my gorgeous Oona at some point next week. Thank you for all your kind words towards this knit, it’s been so encouraging and humbling and just delightful, your all wonderful 🥰 🧶

Pattern is based on pattern Max Baby Cardigan by mariannas lazy days including my own floral handspun design. Yarn is a mixture of my hand dyed/spun and British wool by (if you see this please remind me what this neppy yarn is, it’s beyond gorgeous!) 🥰

I always felt like perhaps colourwork was a waste of precious handspun and so I never tried it, I might have been wrong, what do you think? 🤔 🌷
I wanted to challenge myself a little so came up with this floral design and incorporated it into the pattern max baby cardigan by Marianna’s lazy days which is a lovely little free design I found when Fern was a baby.

For the base I am using some beautiful British wool from .. I forget the breed now but I having a feeling the tweedy nepps are black Welsh.. it’s so gorgeous - I am in love! The colourwork is done in my handspun tweedy yarn which you can swipe to see (I also have a little process video a few posts back you can watch if you’re interested in that!) 😍 I have some mini skeins of the same style of handspun which I need to label and list - probably in the next couple months!

Going into 2026 I want to be more mindful than ever about where I source my yarns. After learning more about the horrific process of superwash (which is essentially just wool coated in plastic) I have decided to use what I have and no more. I’m not totally anti superwash, it is so rewarding to dye and I don’t think it’s the worst thing if used for an item which is going to be loved for a lifetime, but I want to explore more of the beautiful natural British wools we are so blessed to have here 🇬🇧 🐑

I plan on continuing this knit in the white but doing a little more colourwork towards the bottom/sleeve cuffs, baby cardigans really are the most rewarding thing. Perhaps I’ll be confident enough to try an adult size at some point in the future 🤭🤍

This is my current therapy, scrappy slow relaxing woollen spins. I always save my scraps for a few reasons…

1) The symbolism of scraps. The threads hold life force, they hold such significance across all cultures (another post for another time.) it is a powerful and beautiful ritual to reuse scraps and the energy they contain. There’s a reason my soul cannot bare to part with my scraps and I believe this is why.

2) I love the aesthetic! It adds a little bit of fibrey funk and the result is totally unique to you!

3) I hate waste. I could never work in fast fashion because waste makes me feel physically sick. Why throw it away when it can be remade into something unique and beautiful.

These particular yarns are carded with scraps from my weaving projects, all of which went out into the world so this is my chance to spin the essence of those into something of my own. I’m not sure what they will be yet, I’m spinning different colours that when put together will gradient quite nicely. I was thinking I could put together a couple little packs of mini skeins however, each skein takes me anywhere between 9 to 11 hours from start to finish.. so there is the issue of pricing in my mind... 🤪 If you are interested do let me know, and I shall dwell further on this 😊

Hope your all having a lovely weekend 🤍

New spinning companion alert!! 🚨
Baby Oona is here, she was born 2 weeks ago and we already can’t remember life without her in it 🥰

The birth was crazy beautifully and overwhelmingly wonderfully bizzaire and magical.. how does one possibly describe such an experience!? In other words, my dream birth came true (minus my early Labour activities and dance Party - as I tried to sleep through my labour only to be forced out of bed and birthing a baby 2 hours later 🤪) I did however manage a completely natural home birth surrounded by my dearest friends and partner and was lucky enough to need no stitches or pain relief, so it couldn’t have gone much better, hooray for life!

I’m taking it very slow and gently healing, Thankyou for all your lovely kind words, I have been baby spamming my stories and can’t say it’s gunna stop anytime soon…😅 I am feeling good, soaking in the sleepy clingy baby phase to the fullest before she ‘wakes’ and sooo excited for this next chapter!

I may not be creating to sell for the time being but I will absolutely be creating, slowly.. when I can, whatever that may look like 😅 First up is some scrappy long draw yarns!! Big love fibre friends 🧶

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas! Hope you all had a lovely day! I really want to thank you for all your kind words and support this last year, the fibre community here is the best community! So grateful for the inspiration and connection you all bring 🎄💕

I’ll be taking some time off for maternity leave so I may be a little quiet on the ol’ grid from here on in, but i’ll still be around probably mostly via my stories.. hopefully with some time for some low key crafting! 😊 I am now 37 weeks pregnant so hoping to have a few final weeks to relax in our last moments as a ‘3’ over the Xmas break, work on some nice personal projects, meal prep… get all those baby things cleaned and ready! Eek! Hope your hearing that baby… can’t wait to meet you but please be on time 😜

I finally pulled my last handspun weaving off my rigid heddle loom, swipe for some of the process and the white wools it started as! After some hand dyeing alchemy… much time spent carding/blending and spinning on my wheel and finally sandwiching it all together on the loom… she is finally here 🥲 The bad lighting does not do her justice… this weave has truly been a labour of love, not in the ‘laborious’ sense but in a birthing sense, you other creatives will understand that feeling, art is part soul for sure.

I say my last weave… that may be a tad dramatic! It’s my last commissioned piece before our baby girl is born next month! 🤞 I certainly plan to weave lots more in the future. I have absolutely loved this particular project and am hoping to delve into some more personal projects if/when I get the time. It will be fun to experiment and expand on my skills which is usually hard to make space and time for when you have the pressure of limited time/money and (more recently) hand function, so it will be a welcome change of pace for me. Hopefully this baby will love spinning on my knee as much as Fern did 🥹

At some point in a slow creative process like this one you can begin to feel like it will never be complete, it takes so much time to come together, but when it does it really is a feeling like no other! I will take some better pictures on a less gloomy day once this beauty is washed and dry 😍

Tomorrow is the big day! My fibre collection ‘Fantasy Skies’ is finally dropping. It’s been months of limited work and tedious healing after my hand injury in spring, I still have a long way to go but I’m glad to be going out with a bang before I take time off to birth and mother a new baby daughter.. it all feels very surreal! 🥹

I finished off a few more art batts yesterday (swipe second pic) … this collection is one of my favs yet, these colours will definitely bring a bit of joy to the dismal winter days ahead 🌈

If you have your eye on something then don’t forget to set your timers for tomorrow (Dec 1st) at 6pm (UK time)… things have gone quickly in the past! ⏰ You can also click the reminder or head to my stories for a countdown AND.. if your feeling super adventurous subscribe on the bottom of my 🕸️site for a reminder an hour before it all goes live. You can also preview all the woolly goodies there before the big drop and see if anything takes your fancy!

Fluff and love and love and fluff lovely people 🧚🫶🐚
