Preston Playhouse Theatre

Preston Playhouse Theatre Provides local drama and dance groups with modern facilities to produce a variety of shows, plays an All of the people involved are volunteers.

The Playhouse has been in the business of amateur dramatics since 1949. Transformed into a theatre just after the war by Preston Drama Club with the help of many generous patrons, it has provided local drama and dance groups with modern facilities to produce a variety of shows, plays and performances over the years. The Playhouse is open to any group of performers or organization who wish to hire

its stage, auditorium, conference and rehearsal rooms, or bar for any occasion. It is clear that the effort of a great many people is essential in keeping the Playhouse running year after year. And without their hard work, ideas and enthusiasm the show, quite literally, would not go on. In return, these volunteers make great friends, are involved in amazing entertainment and have a great deal of fun. The Playhouse and the drama groups would like you to come and work with us, and learn anything from props to producing, from set design to sound mixing. Check out the website for more details and on how to become a Friend of the Theatre

Some music makes you sing. Some makes you dance. Some takes you straight back to another time. And some grabs you by the heart and refuses to let go.

This season, Preston Playhouse has all of it.

QWEEN UK brings the power, drama and unforgettable anthems of Queen on 31 October.

Cilla & The Swinging 60s takes you back to the songs, style and stars of an era that still knows how to put a smile on your face on 7 November.

Pinked Floyd brings the music of Pink Floyd to life on 28 November, from the haunting moments to the huge, unforgettable sound.

Then on 15 March 2027, Daniel Martinez brings the passion and fire of flamenco to the Playhouse. Guitar, rhythm, movement and music that comes straight from the soul.

Four nights. Four completely different experiences. From Queen's biggest anthems to the raw passion of flamenco.

This isn't background music. This is music that makes you feel something.

Halloween night doesn't have to involve dressing up as a vampire, eating your body weight in Haribo and pretending you enjoy another horror film.

You could spend it with Queen instead.

Qween Live - UK Queen Tribute Band are coming to Preston Playhouse on Saturday 31st October with a night of huge songs, huge vocals and the sort of rock 'n' roll swagger that Freddie Mercury made look ridiculously easy.

We're talking Don’t Stop Me Now, Somebody to Love, Radio Ga Ga, A Kind of Magic, I Want It All, Hammer to Fall, Another One Bites the Dust, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, The Show Must Go On and, naturally, Bohemian Rhapsody. Add We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions and you've pretty much got the soundtrack to several decades of your life in one evening.

Fronted by Paul Carr, who has spent more than 15 years professionally performing as Freddie Mercury, QWEEN UK deliver a full live Queen experience that celebrates the music, the energy and the sheer flamboyance of a band who never really understood the meaning of the word 'subtle'.

So forget the pumpkins for one night. Get your friends together, practise your best Freddie impression and come ready to sing.

Because if you leave Preston Playhouse on Halloween without shouting “WE WILL ROCK YOU”, frankly, you've probably been at the wrong show.

Saturday 31st October. QWEEN UK at Preston Playhouse. Tickets are on sale now at https://rebrand.ly/QweenUK2026 or call 0333 666 3366

Think Preston Playhouse is all plays and serious theatre types? We need to have a word.

As Preston’s only working theatre, there’s a lot more happening on our stage this autumn than straight theatre. Gary Meikle brings his brilliantly outrageous comedy, Qween UK brings the Queen magic, Cilla & The Swinging 60s brings the songs, style and nostalgia of the 60s, while Pinked Floyd bring the sound of one of rock’s most iconic bands back to life. Four very different nights, but all with one thing in common: a bloody good reason to get out of the house.

So if you fancy big laughs, huge songs, classic sounds and proper live entertainment, take a look at what’s coming up at Preston Playhouse. Our Autumn Brochure has all the details, dates and booking information: https://rebrand.ly/WOBrochure2627Pt1

Do you ever hear an old song and suddenly remember a whole world?

A face. A voice. A room. A summer evening. Your mum or dad singing along. The radio turned up. A record spinning in the corner. A time when you didn't have to search for music because it was simply there.

On 7th November, Sandie Smith brings Cilla and the Swinging 60s - The Tour to Preston Playhouse.

With songs including "You're My World", "Anyone Who Had a Heart" and "Alfie", it's a warm, joyful trip back to a time when the music had a way of finding its way into everyday life.

And if you've seen Sandie's previous shows at the Playhouse, you'll already know the wonderful atmosphere she creates.

This isn't just about remembering the 60s.

It's about remembering how it felt.

7th November at Preston Playhouse.

There was a time when solving a murder didn't involve DNA databases, mobile phones or a forensic team. A time when a carefully constructed alibi and a few well-placed details could make a crime look almost impossible to unravel.

Then there was Lieutenant Columbo.

Prescription: Murder takes us back to where it all began. A calculated killing. A seemingly perfect plan. A murderer convinced he has covered every possible angle. And then Columbo starts asking questions.

For those who remember the television classic, there is something wonderfully familiar about seeing Columbo at work again. But Prescription: Murder is more than a nostalgic trip back to another era. It is a tense thriller, a dangerous battle of wits and a story with a twist that could change everything.

Preston Drama Club presents Prescription: Murder at Preston Playhouse, 23rd–26th September.

The technology may have changed. The murder hasn't. And Columbo still has questions.

Book now at www.prestonplayhouse.co.uk or call 0333 666 3366.

Gary Meikle is back… and this time, he’s bringing Yer Maw with him.

Brace yourself, Preston. Gary Meikle is back at Preston Playhouse with his brand-new show, and if you’ve seen him before, you’ll know exactly what that means.

Ninety minutes of filthy-minded observations, brutally honest stories, family disasters, questionable life choices and enough Scottish attitude to cause a minor diplomatic incident.

It’s rude. It’s outrageous. It’s gloriously inappropriate in all the right places. And yes, there will be jokes about yer maw. Quite possibly more than one.

Gary has a talent for saying the things most people think but would never dare say out loud. Then he says them anyway. Loudly. With absolutely no intention of apologising.

If you’ve seen Gary before, you’ll already be reaching for the tickets. If you haven’t… what the hell have you been waiting for?

Come prepared to laugh, cringe, gasp and occasionally wonder whether that joke really just came out of his mouth.

Strictly for grown-ups. Strong language. Adult humour. Zero restraint.

Here is just a glimpse into Gary's world https://www.youtube.com/shorts/eVWBjUNzqD0
