Sunday 6th September, 2pm & 6pm - Macbeth

Join the troupe at the Willow Globe for a hilariously high-octane production of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ like you’ve never seen before. Forget the tears and tragedy, our Macbeth is chock full of mishaps, mayhem and mirth.

We all know the story. Mysterious spirits appear, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth plot to kill the king, and things get rapidly out of hand from there… Suitable for all ages and apparitions.

The HandleBards are an intrepid three-strong troupe spending the summer bringing environmentally sustainable Shakespeare to venues across the UK.

As the end of our touring season pedals ever closer we want to shine a spotlight on our amazing creative teams - whose incredible work behind the scenes has made this year possible 👏

So thank you all - to our directors Mark Collier (As You Like It) and Ellice Stevens (Macbeth) for creating such glorious silliness 🌳🗡️

To our designer Lucy Green for making both shows look gorgeous 🎨

Musical directors Andrew Armfield (Macbeth) and Guy Hughes (As You Like It) for making such sweet sounds 🎸

Our Tour Managers Zoë Boyd (Macbeth) and Chani Merrell (As You Like It) for keeping the wheels turning 🚲

And of course to our brilliant fight director Tom Jordan for sword fights and wrestling galore, and to Extant, Caroline Jeryaratnam-Joyner, Chris Campion, Ella Holappa, Amy Stone and Dot Alma for their superb accessibility work on As You Like It, and to Rachel Andrews and Nancy O’Melia for their invaluable support! 💪

Only a few weeks left to catch our peddling bards! After 14 weeks on the road, 1500 miles cycled, gallons of suncream applied and litres of sweat shed our As You Like It troupe certainly have the strongest legs in all of the Forest of Arden. 🌳💪☀️😮‍💨

There is still a chance to catch our intrepid troupe in action, especially if you live near Leicester, Norwich, Diss, Essex, Peterborough, Kettering, Cambridge or London for our final shows of the tour!

It’s almost over!! Look at our Macbeth team having the time of their lives aboard their trusty steed (electric van Vangela Lansbury) 🚐 They even took the Scottish play all the way up Cawdor Castle itself 🏰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and back this month!

You still have time to catch them in all their spectacularly spooky glory, especially if you live in Lancaster, Bournemouth, Brighton, Birmingham, Llanwrthwl, Banbury, Telford or London for the final leg of their tour!
