"Dawson Dean are a trio from Staffordshire Moorlands, consists of Graham Dawson, Chris Dean and Geoff Berrow.

They are experienced and confident performers of their self-penned songs. Their music blends an eclectic mix of mainly acoustic sounds with a contemporary Acoustic Pop/Americana style. This is achieved through strong melodies, close three-part harmony vocals and contrasting"

Next Folk Club is Friday 5th June when by popular demand, we will be welcoming Winter Wilson back to the Club!

From their website....

"When Mike Harding dubbed Winter Wilson as one of the hardest working duos on the circuit, he'd clearly done his homework. UK based, Kip Winter and Dave Wilson have performed in Germany, Australia, Spain, Canada, Belgium and New Zealand. They've released a string of critically acclaimed albums, one of the highlights being Live & Unconventional. The live album, recorded on tour and at Cropredy Festival with folk rock icons Fairport Convention"......

"It is in live performance where these two really excel. Kip Winter and Dave Wilson bring a sense of intimacy to every venue, blending superb, often hard-hitting original songs, stunning harmonies and musicianship with sometimes hilarious humour and tales of life on the road. Kip (vocals, accordion, guitar, flute) "simply has a voice to die for” ( John Roffey, Maverick Magazine), whilst Dave (vocals, guitar and banjo) is now rightly recognized as being amongst the top tier of British songwriters, with his songs sung in folk clubs across the UK and beyond. Together, their voices are sublime"

You will laugh; you may cry. You will certainly want to see them again!

Most of you know that Phil and I volunteer for Fosbrook Folk Education Trust, which is based at Banks Lane Junior School, and teaches traditional music, dance & song to young people.

Fosbrooks have appeared at the club on several ocassions and have also represented the UK at Folk Festivals, at home & abroad, for the last 40 years and some of our uniforms and instruments have seen better days! Therefore, we are holding a Silent Auction on the 15th May to raise some much needed funds!

Here's where you come in...I'm after donations to sell at the Auction. The type of things we accept incl:-

Unwanted/new gifts ie toiletries, chocolates, jewellery, candles, wine, etc.

New/nearly new clothes & shoes for a 'jumble' table

Bric a brac, working small electrics, musical instruments, books.... in fact basically anything that you think might sell.

If you have anytjing to donate, please could you bring it to the club on the 1st May, or if local to Offerton, I could collect...please get in touch if you can help.

Thank you 😊

Lee is a singer songwriter from Hadfield, Derbyshire. Some of you will have met him at our annual singaround in 2024. We were all suitably impressed by his performance and thought he would be a good fit for the club.... and he is bringing some friends with him to entertain you!
