Next Folk Club is Friday 5th June when by popular demand, we will be welcoming Winter Wilson back to the Club!

From their website....

"When Mike Harding dubbed Winter Wilson as one of the hardest working duos on the circuit, he'd clearly done his homework. UK based, Kip Winter and Dave Wilson have performed in Germany, Australia, Spain, Canada, Belgium and New Zealand. They've released a string of critically acclaimed albums, one of the highlights being Live & Unconventional. The live album, recorded on tour and at Cropredy Festival with folk rock icons Fairport Convention"......

"It is in live performance where these two really excel. Kip Winter and Dave Wilson bring a sense of intimacy to every venue, blending superb, often hard-hitting original songs, stunning harmonies and musicianship with sometimes hilarious humour and tales of life on the road. Kip (vocals, accordion, guitar, flute) "simply has a voice to die for” ( John Roffey, Maverick Magazine), whilst Dave (vocals, guitar and banjo) is now rightly recognized as being amongst the top tier of British songwriters, with his songs sung in folk clubs across the UK and beyond. Together, their voices are sublime"

You will laugh; you may cry. You will certainly want to see them again!

Resident band GraceNotes will be opening up as usual at 8pm!

Doors open at 7.15pm

If you have anytjing to donate, please could you bring it to the club on the 1st May, or if local to Offerton, I could collect...please get in touch if you can help.

Next Folk Club is Friday 3rd April, when by popular demand, we will be welcoming The Lost Trades back to the Club!

"The Lost Trades are a Folk/Americana Trio, based in the West Country, with a cool Laurel Canyon vibe. With a sound that is reminiscent of the California folk scene of the late 60s/early 70s, their three part harmonies have been described as "flawless", "spine tingling" and "magical".

Next Folk Club is Friday 6th March, when we will be welcoming Anthony John Clarke back to the club, accompanied by Julia Porter!

"Folk singer, songwriter, raconteur, Anthony John Clarke has been an integral part of the UK music scene for 30 years, much loved by those who know him, hugely respected by his peers, and a guaranteed good night for those who book him.

Originally from Belfast, AJ emerged there with his songs ‘The Broken Years’ and ‘The Only Life Gloria Knows’ but now presents as one of the most humorous and entertaining acts around. Audiences cannot resist the musical invitations to sing from this true gentleman of the music world. His gentle stage presence is matched by a voice rich in melody and accompanied by some deft guitarwork........

This man is perhaps the funniest at serious songs and the most serious about funny songs. Enjoy the ride with AJ and everyone is advised to bring all necessary medication!

Of course, it would be remiss in any introduction to AJ not to mention the fabulous Julia Porter, his occasional or possibly frequent stage partner. Her presence on keyboards offers an added musical dimension, while the rapport between them brings an extra delight to proceedings" (Sleepless)

Edwina Heyes at the club tonight!

So, so sorry if you were turned away when we were at capacity. 😪

The Legion sets the capacity limit and if we go over it we are not insured and we also stand the chance of losing the room for future concerts.

Most people were very understanding about this, but a few were unpleasant... we are truly sorry if you were turned away.

Next Folk Club is Friday 6th February, when we will be welcoming Edwina Hayes to the club!

Appearing at a variety of festivals this year, including Sidmouth, who describe her as....

"bringing together English folk, Americana and the rich Northern singer-songwriter tradition to create a sound that’s truly unique.

Edwina has toured with such notable performers as Jools Holland, Van Morrison, Nanci Griffith and Loudon Wainwright III. Her cover of the Randy Newman song Feels Like Home was featured in the Cameron Diaz film My Sister’s Keeper and has since had over ten million plays on Spotify and over thirty million plays on You Tube. Edwina’s fourth album Ruby Rose was released in 2022"

Edwina was born in Dublin and grew up in Preston, Lancashire before moving to the East coast of Yorkshire as a teenager, where she has been based ever since. Dividing her time between the UK and America, Edwina’s second home is Nashville where she is much loved as a songwriter and artist"

‘The sweetest voice in England. A wonderful young woman, so gifted and full of song.’ (Nanci Griffith)

‘Haunting, honeyed.’ (The Guardian)

Next Folk Club is Friday 9th January 2026!

Please note that this is the SECOND Friday of the month, as we've put it back a week to allow us all to recover from the Christmas and New Year festivities!

The night will be a little different than normal, in that the main act is our very own GraceNotes (who have been promoted for the evening and need no introduction) and their support act will be the International Band, from Fosbrook Folk Education Trust!

Get ready for some tricky footwork and some excellent tunes from these very talented musicians, who have appeared at international folk festivals, both abroad and in the UK! In fact two of the performers have recently arrived back from India, having represented the UK at a large festival, as part of a band put together by a previous Fosbrook member

Fosbrooks will be opening up at the usual time of 8pm!

Doors open at 7.15pm
Performances from 8pm - 11pm

Raffle during the interval (donations of Raffle prizes always gratefully accepted)

£10 entrance (cash on the door)

Don't forget the room is limited to 120 people and we know some of you have been arriving early to make sure you get in, but we can't open the doors until after the sound checks done!

In the meantime we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🌲🌲🌲🌲

And a Merry Christmas from Fosbrooks too!

Here's a short video of a few of the older group who are supporting Gracenotes at the next Folk Club on Friday the 9th January!
