Poynton Arts Fesitval is one of the finalists!
Some months ago, I was contacted by Access All Areas to enter PAF for their annual awards, which is like the Oscars for the events and festivals industry. Access All Areas is part of Mash Media who run the annual Event Production Show national trade show for the events industry at the ExCel Centre in London as well as publishing the trade publication 'Access All Areas' and do quite a bit more!
I did not think too much about this at first, thinking we were a bit out of their league but at a zoom meeting held at their request, two people from AAA felt PAF should apply for the 'One to watch' Award so I completed an entry form, which included a few short essay questions about what the festival was about, how big PAF was, how long it had been running etc. Anyway, AAA have been putting out details this week of the lists of finalists for each award and PAF are listed as one of the finalists for the 'One to watch'. To put things in perspective, another of the finalists for this award is the new 20,000plus seat CoOp Live Arena in Manchester!!
I called AAA today and was advised that all finalists will receive formal individual notification by e-mail tomorrow. However, tickets for the Awards Ceremony, which is being held at the 02 Indigo in London on the 5th December, are £200.00 plus VAT each, and all finalists get is a discounted rate!!! I doubt we will win in any case but to be one of the finalists is still an achievement and shows how good Poynton Arts Festival is :)
