🌍✨ Happy World Earth Day! ✨🌍

At Wymsical Theatre, we try to keep sustainability at centre stage. From the costumes you see under the spotlight to the sets that bring our stories to life, we’re proud to make environmentally conscious choices every step of the way.

♻️ Our costumes are often lovingly created from donated and recycled materials, and we keep them stored for rotation in future performances rather than buying new for every show.

🎭 Our sets are regularly reimagined and reused, with furniture often hired or generously borrowed from our amazing team.

🎟️ Tickets are are available in digital formats —no paper needed!

🥤 At events, we use reusable plastic glasses and make sure all paper and plastic waste is properly recycled.

Every small action adds up, and we’re committed to doing our part to protect the planet while continuing to create magical theatre experiences 💚

One of the really important things to us here at Wymsical is live music.

In an industry where the fashion seems to be heading towards using tracks for shows, either for the whole backing or to enhance the sound of a small pit band. We will always use live musicians.

The reasons we are passionate about this are many.

1. We are musicians who earn our living through providing live music or from teaching the next generation of musicians, to use track is literally putting ourselves out of a job.

2. If a performer skips a bar, or a verse, a live band can jump and catch the performer, with track you can’t do this, which for young performers is very stressful and can stop the performance.

3. Teaching the Wymsies to connect with their band, or accompanist is an important part of performing and an important part of their training.

4. The wonderful Wymsical band, many of whom play multiple instruments, give our performances such life, and they enjoy the experience of supporting the youngsters.

Yes this means that we can’t perform certain musicals. But we truly believe that our lovely band are worth every penny!

Let’s hear it for the Wymsical Chaperones!!

For every public performance that the Wymsies take part in, we have to apply for permission to the county council. One of the conditions of the permission is that the Wymsies are looked after by chaperones that have completed the WCC chaperone course.

Without this small group of dedicated ladies we literally couldn’t function!

So thank you ladies, the Wymsies couldn’t perform without you!

The Norbury Theatre has been the performance home of Wymsical since we started in 2016. But Pammy and Stephen actually met here back in 2004. So we are proud to call the technical team as well as many of the performers there our friends.

Did you know that the Norbury is staffed completely by volunteers?

In order to keep the Wymsies safe and the shows running, the technicians, back stage crew, front of house staff and refreshments team, give up a great deal of their time. Given how full their programme is and with the success of the Rick Mayall festival we are very grateful that we can still fit in their schedule, as I know the Wymsies feel at home here!

Thank you team!!

Lots of people have asked me where we hired our costumes.

All of the costumes you see are a result of the hard work and vision of our wonderful Costume Coven!

The design and ex*****on of the character costumes by the wonderfully talented Lex Freeth stitchwyck_witch.

The chorus costumes by the glorious Claire, Nicky, Carole, Naomi and Britt.

The Wymsies are so lucky to have such talented dedicated ladies to help costume them so beautifully!

Good costumes definitely help with confidence on stage, and watching the Wymsies get their costumes for the first time is one of our favourite moments in the Wymsical year.
