We are absolutely delighted to see Woven Hug continuing its incredible journey as part of this year's Foyle Maritime Festival. 💙🧵

Back in 2023, so many of you joined us at Flowerfield Arts Centre to stitch, sew, create and share stories, helping to bring this beautiful community artwork to life. Every thread holds a memory, and every contribution helped create something truly special.

Now, Woven Hug 2.0 is taking its next exciting step as part of Entangled Peace, a wonderful new community arts project led by Tere Chad and FUSE arts. If you were one of the many people who added a stitch, a fabric square or simply shared in the experience, we'd love to encourage you to make the journey to the Foyle Maritime Festival to see how your artwork has grown and become part of something even bigger.

Stop by the Science of Water Tent, admire Woven Hug on display, chat with Tere about the next chapter, and why not get involved in one of the free creative workshops while you're there?

There's something really special about seeing a community artwork continue to evolve, bringing people together and weaving new stories along the way.

Our sister venue The Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centrerecently welcomed pupils, families, teachers and invited guests to celebrate the launch of a special sculpture exhibition created by students from Rossmar School.

Co-ordinated by Emma Thorpe, Community Arts Development Officer, and facilitated by Fiona Shannon Ceramics, the project provided pupils with the opportunity to explore their creativity through sculpture, build confidence, and develop new artistic skills through a shared creative process.

Fresh from the kiln, these stunning fused glass sea scenes have undergone their final transformation. The intense heat has fused each carefully placed piece together, creating smooth flowing curves, rich colours and shimmering textures that perfectly capture the movement of the sea.

There's always a little magic in opening the kiln and seeing how each piece has changed. No two are ever exactly alike, making every artwork completely unique.

Thanks to Natasha Duddy Glass Designs for leading this workshop and well done to all our particpants!

As part of their travels along the stunning Causeway Coastal Route, Olympic gold medallist Greg O'Shea and Jeanni O'Shea stopped by to visit our resident potter Fiona Shannon Ceramics and experience the art of throwing on the pottery wheel.

Alongside creating and selling her gorgeous and distinctive handcrafted ceramics, and delivering popular pottery classes and courses at Flowerfield, across the Borough, and beyond, Fiona also offers visitors the opportunity to step into her studio for small group or private lessons. Greg and his wife enjoyed a hands-on introduction to wheel throwing, discovering the skill, patience and creativity involved in transforming a lump of clay into something unique.

We have an incredible wealth of talent across the Causeway Coast and Glens borough. From artists, makers and craftspeople to musicians, storytellers, unique small businesses and culinary creators, the region is bursting with creativity, heritage and unique experiences.
