Admirals' Players

Admirals' Players Part of the Royal Navy Theatre Association. We are members of the military and civil service (and families) on Whale Island and in the Dockyard.

Welcome to the 'Admirals' Players' Theatre Company. Here at the Admirals' Players we are a mixture of Ex Service and Service Personnel, Civil Servants and their families who live or work in the Portsmouth area. We like to make sure that our audiences not only enjoy our performances but that they talk about them for years to come. Founded in 1998 and originally known as the 'Victory Players', the A

dmirals' Players have performed in a variety of venues, that is until 2005 when it adopted Fisher Hall on Whale Island, Portsmouth as its official home. We perform an array of different plays from Crime to Farcical Comedies in our Spring Productions to our Pantomimes in the Winter. The Admirals' Players are part of a wider group of Service Theatre companies known as the 'Royal Navy Theatre Association' (RNTA) which hosts a Drama Festival in the Spring where our productions are judged for awards. Think the Oscars but without the budget or the movie stars. Over the years The Admirals' Players have accumulated quite a collection of these awards from the Drama Festivals. The RNTA also offers the opportunity to take part in a Summer festival which our members are able to get involved in. We are always on the look out for new members whether it be actors, directors and technicians to make-up and costume. Experience is by no means essential and every role is an important one. Audition dates for "He's in the Cupboard" are official!!!

They will take place in Fisher Hall, HMS Excellent, between 6pm and 8pm on the following dates -

Tuesday 10th February
Thursday 12th February
Tuesday 17th February
Thursday 19th February

Happy New Year All!!

We are all very excited over at The Admirals Players!! New Year means a new run of shows!!!

Starting off with our Spring/Summer Production of "He's in the Cupboard" by Mike Sole.

Audition dates are just being finalised and as soon as they are set in stone then we will announce them! We hope to see many of you there... And if the stage is not for you then why not come and help front of house, or behind stage with the tech crew?? Or maybe even producing is more of your thing?? Even if it's not then we can't wait to see you in our audience!!

It's National Panto Day!!

Pantomime is very close to our hearts here, as it means that not only do we get to act fools on stage without being told off, but it also means that the kids can finally get involved again!! Our company would not be the same without the children stars!!

Come and join the Admirals' Players!

We're a theatre group open to military personnel, civil servants and their family members.
As well as auditioning for roles in our next production, we are also looking for members to join the production team behind the scenes or to help Front of House during performances.

We're a friendly bunch so come along and make friends, try something new and most importantly have fun!

We will be holding auditions for cast and crew for our summer production in the New Year, so keep an eye out for updates here and on our page or email [email protected] for more information.

Our Fairy sparkled, the Dame Dazzled
And then came the Fool, always quite Frazzled
Witchy tried her best to scheme

Message time from the Director of Adventure in Pantoland!!

Heyyy all!!

Well we are halfway through the run!! And what a run it has been so far!!! A huge thank you to everyone single one of you that has come to support us so far... And to those that have booked in for the remaining shows... Well what a treat you have in store!!

25 years ago I first stepped foot onto the stage with this Admirals' Players (but it was then called the Victory Players), and over the many many years I have done all manner of roles on stage including Deer, Mole, Playing Card, Fool, Best Friend to the Princess and even had the privilege of Principal Boy twice! But I have also done my share of the hard work off stage taking on roles such as Choreographer, Publicity, Backstage, Front of House and more recently Assistant Director and Director twice for Spring shows!

That being said directing my first Panto did not come without it's challenges, but it brought me so much pride and joy... Not just watching people I call my second family bring my crazy vision to life, but to actually watch my own family tread the boards as well!! My husband took on the very demanding role of Villain Number 2 (Wizbad) and then my 5 year old decided he wanted to take a crack at things and became the youngest member of our chorus!!

If you are looking for anything to do tonight or even tomorrow or Sunday afternoon then come and support your favourite amateur dramatic navy theatre group and take a trip.... Through Pantoland!!!!
