After celebrating the incredible schools, teachers and children who made Dance for Diabetes 2026 so special, there is something about receiving this trophy that meant more than any other…

🏆 £77,919.36 RAISED! 🏆

And seeing my name on it honestly feels a little surreal.

What started as an idea with to bring schools together through dance has grown into something I could never have imagined — raising an incredible amount of money for an incredibly important cause. ❤️

But this number isn’t my achievement. It belongs to every single child who danced, every school that got involved, every teacher who supported us, every parent who donated and every person who helped make Dance for Diabetes what it is.

£77,919.36.
One number. Thousands of little dancers. Countless hours of dancing, fundraising, laughing and making memories. 🥹❤️

And I honestly couldn’t be prouder.

FunKidz Dance are looking for multiple dance teachers to join us in September!

At FunKidz our aim is to provide fun dance sessions for all school children. Our classes provide an opportunity for everyone to be involved and showcase their talent each half term. We believe all children should be given the chance to perform and gain confidence without the additional costs for costumes and footwear. At FunKidz all your child will need is their feet and a whole lot of energy!

Roles available!
Student teacher £15 P/H:
Candidates must be 16-18 looking for experience in dance teaching, choreography, and childcare! We are looking for enthusiastic teachers to assist in two weekly classes in Portchester at an infant and junior class. Responsibilities include:

- aiding in the delivery of an afterschool dance club
- assisting with students needs
- helping with warm up, choreography, and games
- gaining experience to eventually take on a solo taught class

Freelance dance teacher £25 P/H:
Candidates for this role must
- hold a valid enhanced DBS or be willing to apply
- have the right to work in the UK
-hold paediatric first aid or be willing to gain
- hold a safeguarding children certificate, or be willing to gain

Responsibilities include:
-leading afterschool dance clubs for primary school children weekly
- choreography, warm ups, performances, games
- be able to safely manage classes of up to 25 children
- take part in yearly stage shows and termly showcases

FIVE YEARS. THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN. £150,000 RAISED. ONE INCREDIBLE PARTNERSHIP.

What started as a collaboration between Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation DRWF Diabetes and FunKidz Dance has grown into something truly extraordinary. 🥹❤️

Together, we haven’t just created a fundraising campaign — we’ve built a movement that has reached tens of thousands of children, giving them the opportunity to dance, learn, fundraise and become powerful ambassadors for diabetes awareness.

And just look at the journey…

Year 1 — 5 schools
Year 2 — 10 schools
Year 3 — 15 schools
Year 4 — 17 schools
Year 5 — 86 SCHOOLS!

From 5 schools in our first year to an incredible 86 schools in Year 5 — that growth is phenomenal.

And then there’s the fundraising…

They represent the incredible partnership between DRWF and FunKidz, the dedication of schools, teachers, children and families, and the sheer determination to keep making Dance for Diabetes bigger, louder and more impactful every single year.

Today, we gathered to celebrate the life of our beautiful Abby Joy, and this is one of the songs she chose for her simply beautiful service.

Although our hearts are broken, today wasn’t just about saying goodbye. It was about honouring an extraordinary young woman who touched so many lives with her kindness, courage, and beautiful smile.

Abby had a love for performing that shone every time she stepped onto the stage. Dance was so much more than movement to her – it was where she found happiness, confidence, and the freedom to truly be herself. Watching her perform was a privilege, and seeing the joy she brought to others is something we will never forget.

Even in the face of unimaginable challenges, Abby showed a strength that inspired everyone around her. She never let her illness define who she was, instead it fuelled her determination to help others. That selflessness says everything about the incredible person she was.

Abby wasn’t just a teacher at FunKidz – she was family. She filled our classes with laughter, friendship, and light, leaving footprints on the hearts of every child, teacher, and parent who knew her. Her legacy will continue to live on every time a child finds the confidence to dance, every time kindness is shown, and every time someone chooses to keep smiling through life’s toughest moments.

To Abby’s wonderful family, thank you for sharing her with us. We hope you know just how deeply she was loved and how many lives she changed.

Abby, thank you for every memory, every performance, every hug, and every smile. We will carry you with us always.

This isn’t goodbye forever. It’s simply goodbye for now.
