🏅 Well done to Elliot Sergejew, writer of our fifth selected script of 2026, May’s ‘Would You Like a Medal?’

🗣️ Elliot says: “Some might say ‘Would You Like a Medal?’ is a window into the complexities of human communication, shining a light on the dangers of sarcasm as a friendship becomes destroyed. I would say it's a bit of a stupid play about someone taking a phrase literally and ridiculousness unfolds.”

Earlier this month, we were amazed by the turnout at Keppel's Head Hotel for our May meeting, where local writers shared brand new short plays, many inspired by the suggested prompt, ‘A Camel in the Ocean’

It was incredible to see the huge variety of interpretations that came from a single prompt, and we’re looking forward to discovering which script comes out on top in the vote. If you joined us on the night, don’t forget to cast your vote at Crowbait.co.uk/poll - the winning play will receive a full production at Showbait 2027.

Take a look through the rest of our feed for details about our next meeting on Tuesday 2 June 2026, along with next month’s writing prompt ✍️

🎉 Congratulations to Sophie Nickerson, writer of our fourth selected script of 2026, April’s ‘My Favourite Teacher’.

👩‍🏫 Sophie says: “This monologue follows Arlo, a four-year-old boy, as he tries to understand why his favourite teacher suddenly left school without saying goodbye. Through innocent memories, playful moments, and heartfelt questions, Arlo reminisces about the bond they shared while struggling to make sense of her disappearance.”
