Councils doing things right, sadly for us it’s not so easy.

Rather than our concrete Metropole skatepark we are getting a ‘temporary’ prefab park in the small station square. This is the smallest skatepark space in the area with one of the biggest scenes.

We were working together but the playground supplier sadly can’t supply us with a round flat rail, similar to every other skatepark in the country bar 1 and also parks he has made down south.

Skateboard GBwe really need your help, please get in contact.

£90k going to this temporary space rather than being a good head-start to our real skatepark like the rest of the councils.

Not bothered if CAUS is organising it and the council can’t give that money, doesn’t make sense. Stupid waste of our money!! Going to Garden Escapes who have ruined multiple areas down south with their terrible skateparks that make no sense.

Well done to Causeway Coast Council for bringing these guys to NI, every other council in the country have got real skatepark builders to do the job.

Also if we get this square rail, it’ll come straight out because we don’t want it! We have good round rails already which we have asked for!! Thanks!!

Garden Escapes in Portadown destroying the chance of skate communities down south with there 0 skate knowledge skateparks. They have none up north yet but have won a tender in Newry. Newry, Mourne and Down District Council don’t let these people bring this to us. People would rather nothing than this dangerous nonsense.

Skatepark builders should build skateparks not playground guys!

Larne Town Park unveils community skate park!

Council has announced the opening of a fantastic new skate park at Larne Town Park!

A celebration was held to mark the official opening of the skate park on Saturday 5 October.

The newly opened skate park features interconnected ramps and has been designed to cater to all skill levels. As riders improve, they can tackle new obstacles including transfers, gaps, and carve lines, making it suitable for everyone from beginners to experienced skaters.

In addition to those features, it also caters to a range of wheeled sports – from skateboarding to BMX, scootering, and inline skating. The site is also designed to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all abilities.

The £220,000 investment has been delivered through the Council’s Out to Play strategy which aims to enhance play facilities across the Borough.

Over the past five years, over £4.2million has been invested in play within Mid and East Antrim, ensuring that members of the community have access to high-quality play provision that encourage physical activity and social interaction.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Beth Adger MBE, said:

“This investment demonstrates our commitment to the local community and enhancing facilities for our children and young people across the Borough. Clean and welcoming spaces are essential, and this project is a significant step in our ongoing efforts to transform underutilised spaces into dynamic places to enjoy. Importantly, it can also promote exercise and a healthy lifestyle, which is vital for our community's well-being.”

“The park’s inclusive design is a testament to our commitment to accessibility, ensuring that it welcomes participants of all ages and abilities. At Council, we believe that recreational spaces should be available to everyone, and this park is a fantastic example of that principle in action. We look forward to seeing everyone enjoy the new facilities and, most importantly, having fun.”
