Rainy end to August here, but had a great month catching up with people I’ve come to know and love over decades of going to surf contests. Have to say the crew & have assembled for is as wonderful a gang as I’ve ever known. Same for the 3-man squad that made the first ever WSL ‘Compcast’ for days 4&5, brainchild of the genius . What an absolute honour for and I to have been involved in that one. Lots of you have probably seen this great two-pic seq of encouraging Pauly into popping bubbly over everyone in the rain at the end… but it can’t be over-shared! Was always going to post it either 31/8 or NYE 😂 Anyway… happy Autumn everyone 🤙🏽 🍂 🌊 ☀️

Was absolutely stoked to learn I’d be working with on this past event and have to say the experience was everything I had hoped for and more. Sam is in my opinion one of the best sports commentators there is full stop. He’s such a massive fan, but the professionalism - from his approach to research through to his use of words - blew me away. Same can be said for his kindness, having all the time he could find to give advice not just to me but to half the competitors too. And then to be so slick at just drifting into little sideways tangents while live on air for hours straight. It was a masterclass alright. All the best Sam for your upcoming trips 🤙🏽 and diolch again for accepting me as an apprentice for two days!

Remembering the 🔥 action from Welsh Para Surfing Champs on weekend just gone. Blown away by standard this event can bring in from around the globe, and to see both Wales and England having WORLD CHAMPIONS that can stick it to the best. From the gantry it was a job to save the voice as I pretty much needed to reach for the most excited tones throughout each heat 😂 so enjoying a few days without taking so much now - and you know how hard that is for me! Congrats especially to Cymru’s own aka Llewelyn the Next on retaining his title but also to all the winners, participants, pushers and catchers, volunteers, officials and fans who made it such a special event. Now it’s 🤞🏽 for the big decision on LA 2028… 🙏🏽 Woohoo 🙌🏽
