Bach, Bows and Arrows! - An Audience with Julian & Jiaxin Lloyd Webber

Julian Lloyd Webber and his wife Jiaxin invite audiences to join them for an evening of music, stories and celebration, as Julian returns to Ireland, having just published his candid and widely acclaimed autobiography Bows and Arrows.
Together, Julian and Jiaxin explore the extraordinary story behind Bach’s sublime Cello Suites, how Bach influenced their careers as musicians and how these masterpieces lay undiscovered for nearly two hundred years.

Audiences will have a once in a lifetime chance to question both Lloyd Webbers, as they recall working with musical greats including Elton John, Philip Glass, Yehudi Menuhin, Stéphane Grappelli, Joaquín Rodrigo and Julian's brother Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber.

Paul Rose "without doubt one of the most unique and talented guitarists in the world today" will be taking to the Portico stage this August.

Newcastle born Paul's career launched when Rory Gallagher picked him from a 1000 guitarists in a national UK competition. He has gone on to build a career showcasing his extraordinary playing style touching on blues, country, jazz and folk, blended with his own rock fundamentals earning him a 'Guitarist of the Year' accolade from Guitarist Magazine along the way.

Proudly supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland we are delighted to be welcoming to the Portico stage on 20th June The Ulster Consort and composer Philip Wilby.

The Ulster Consort's energies are focused on concert performances of the finest works of the Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical periods - working with period instruments and in an historically informed manner - through to the glorious smaller-scaled works of the Romantic era, the 20th century, and the present day.
