Today I visited for the first time. And what can I say? A perfect combination of industrial heritage and modern boldness. And to top all of that, they offered a red wine matured handfill bottling for a very reasonable price. A absolutely perfect first impression I would say. With being one of my favourite distilleries, I would never miss the Warehouse Tasting when I visit . But this time I was a bit let down by the selection of casks, with all three of them not being older than 7 years. Of course the Fino cask and the Bourbon cask where expectable good drams but in the end nothing really special. The French Virgin Oak on the other hand was. A real heavy hitter and phantastic whisky to spend hours with. Even though we could bottle 200ml of our favourite cask and take it home with us I feel the price tag of 70£ per person is a bit too much for what we actually got.

After just one week of my in I've already learned so many things: I didn't know how incredible unique, fruity, salty, fishy and 'yeastly' refreshing could be. I didn't know that a Brandy for 12,50€ could taste like a 100€ Spingbank Single Malt. And I didn't know how mindblowingly deep, complex and just grand a 25yo Pedro Ximenez could taste.
Guys, just forget everything you think you know about Sherry. Come to Andalusia and taste as much as you can. It's so, so much more than just the stuff we want to finish our Scotch in.

Thanks to incredible creative independent bottlers like Scotch Single Malt is way past its "grandfather's drink" image. And that's great, because in my opinion Scotch Single Malt Whisky and its community is as colourful and lively as it gets.
