Photo shoot tips from a seasoned pole dancer and ex fitness model to get the most out of your shoot
-
Plan plan plan! The average shoot is 30-60 mins long, that time will fly when you are shooting in the studio, make a list of moves in an order that you want the picture, I have lost count of the amount of times I have been asked what to do in a group shot, 5 decent tricks and some simple poses are usually enough
-
Decide on your outfit or outfits against the color back drop you are having, don’t have to many changes one or two is usually enough and a back up just in case
-
Keep it simple and by that I mean now is not the time to shoot your newest and hardest trick! Pick moves that you can do well and hold, you will have to do the move more then once and hold that move
-
Play to your strengths and pick moves you like a perform well, for me anything on my hands is usually a winner
-
Arrive early to warm up, photoshoots are intense and should be treated just like a class, you also do not want to arrive stressed
-
Take light snacks and have something light to eat before your shoot! It’s tempting not to eat to keep your stomach flat but you need your energy when holding moves
Some moves will take more time especially with a prop! The yellow shot with the skirt took 18 takes to get, it was exhausting
-
Use the floor, the floor is your friend and some of my best photos have been simple shots on the floor
-
Have back up moves planned incase your listed moves don’t go to plan, I think I have a side saddle Superman in every shoot I have done
-
Your simple moves are best as filler move or shot last when your energy has dipped
-
Having friend with you to help you is a bonus, the shoot sat in the red skirt required someone to hold it and let go, it’s also great to have your own personal cheer leader with you
-
Warm in to your bendy moves, you do not want to come away with an injury! I tore a hamstring on a photo shoot in a split
-
Have fun and don’t stress out, the point is to enjoy the experience and have fun showing the world (or not) what you can do

What is your go to Photoshoot move?
