Kate Shephard Art

Kate Shephard Art Kate Shephard - Dorset artist. I create expressive, faith-inspired art, from vibrant abstracts to peaceful watercolours and Bible verse prints.

My pieces bring peace, joy, and soul into the home, offering beauty & heartfelt encouragement and inspiration. I live in Poole in Dorset in the UK and have been painting on and off since I was at school over 30 years ago. I opened my shop in 2013 - put up one item and then family life got the better of me as the kids were still 2 and 4 at that point. In the last few months I have started painting

again and creating all sorts of bits and pieces so I thought I would re-open my shop again! A lot of my creations/paintings are largely inspired or sourced from the beautiful area that I live in but I take inspiration from lots of different areas of my life. I am lucky to live by the sea and love painting coastlines, sunsets etc. I particularly love using lots of colour and life and love striking scenery and subject matter. Colour makes me happy! :)
My crafty creations make lovely bespoke gifts for loved ones, family or friends and are great as occasion gifts for weddings, mothers day, valentines day, Christmas. Follow me on twitter : OR

There's still wonder all around you. 🌅
Sometimes all it takes is one extraordinary sky to remind you of that. Stop. Look up. Breathe.
This is why I paint — to bring those moments of quiet wonder into your home so you can find them even on the days when you can't get to the water's edge.

There’s nothing quite like a handful of glowing reviews to put the biggest smile on my face. 💛
Seeing your five-star messages all together like this… wow. It really does mean the world.

Thank you so much to everyone who’s taken the time to leave a review. It might seem like a small thing, but it makes such a huge difference to a small business like mine.

'Untamed' - This painting is about letting your light shine even when you're navigating darkness. Sometimes you need to paint the darkness to find the light 💙💜
This is 'Untamed' - and I'm going to be really honest with you about where this one came from.
I painted it when I was in a bit of a dark place mentally. Things had gone wrong, I was frustrated, and I just felt... heavy. But I didn't want to paint something hopeless. I wanted to create something that acknowledged the darkness but refused to let it win.
What I love most about this piece is that it doesn't pretend. It doesn't try to be all sunshine and positivity. It just shows up honestly - dark and light coexisting, turmoil and peace fighting for space, colour refusing to be dimmed.

I named it 'Untamed' because that's what it represents to me. Being unapologetically yourself. Feeling what you need to feel without pretence. Not performing perfection - just being authentically, messily, beautifully human.

This one's for anyone who's tired of art that only shows the pretty parts. This is for the complex seasons. For the times when you're struggling but still showing up. For anyone who needs permission to be untamed.

‘Whispers of Midwinter’ is inspired by those glowing winter days I remember from my childhood growing up in Poland — frosted trees, icy light, and that magical quiet that settles over everything after snowfall.

It started as just a whisper of an idea… then a wash of wintery tones… then those delicate little movements that felt like light drifting across a cold morning. I love seeing the process again, because it reminds me how much magic lives in the in-between stages. Nothing rushed, nothing forced — just colour finding its place.

I hope this little behind-the-scenes moment feels as calming to watch as it was to paint.
Do you enjoy seeing the process, or do you prefer the finished piece?

Light bursting through darkness 💙💜
This painting is about being authentically yourself. Feeling what you need to feel without pretence. Letting the dark and light coexist because that's what being human really looks like.
This is 'Untamed' - I painted it during a season when everything felt heavy, but I wanted colour to fight its way through with fierce, unapologetic energy.

Why bigger can sometimes be better 🌿
Larger prints genuinely transform a space in a way smaller ones just don't manage. The colours breathe. The art becomes a focal point. The whole room shifts.
Above a bed. Over a sofa. In a hallway that needs a welcoming touch. Larger prints just work.
Torn between sizes? Here's your gentle nudge to go a little bolder. 💛
Do you usually go subtle or make a statement?

Izzy’s message honestly made my whole day. 💛
There’s something really special about hearing how a piece lands with someone — how it looks in their home, how it makes them feel, and that little spark of joy it brings.

Sharing her lovely review over this close-up of ‘Leap of Faith’ felt so right. That piece has such a gentle strength to it, and knowing it’s found a home where it’s loved just means everything.

Thank you, Izzy, for taking the time to share your experience — and thank you to everyone who leaves a little note or kind word. It all helps my art keep travelling, one home at a time.
If you’ve got one of my pieces, I’d love to know where it’s living. ✨

Can I tell you about the morning that inspired this one? ☀️
It was one of those summer mornings where the light just floods in and everything feels different. Charged. Golden. Like the day is absolutely buzzing with possibility before it's even properly started. I find those mornings completely intoxicating — and I wanted to try and bottle that feeling in paint.
'In the Quiet Light' is what happened. That moment when stillness tips over into energy and something inside you wakes up and thinks — yes. Today. Let's go.
It's for the one who needs that reminder on their walls. The one who wants to wake up to something that says good things are coming — even on the mornings when it doesn't quite feel that way yet. ✨
