Kate Shephard Art

Kate Shephard Art Kate Shephard - Dorset artist. I create expressive, faith-inspired art, from vibrant abstracts to peaceful watercolours and Bible verse prints.

My pieces bring peace, joy, and soul into the home, offering beauty & heartfelt encouragement and inspiration. I live in Poole in Dorset in the UK and have been painting on and off since I was at school over 30 years ago. I opened my shop in 2013 - put up one item and then family life got the better of me as the kids were still 2 and 4 at that point. In the last few months I have started painting

again and creating all sorts of bits and pieces so I thought I would re-open my shop again! A lot of my creations/paintings are largely inspired or sourced from the beautiful area that I live in but I take inspiration from lots of different areas of my life. I am lucky to live by the sea and love painting coastlines, sunsets etc. I particularly love using lots of colour and life and love striking scenery and subject matter. Colour makes me happy! :)
My crafty creations make lovely bespoke gifts for loved ones, family or friends and are great as occasion gifts for weddings, mothers day, valentines day, Christmas. Follow me on twitter : OR

From dull… to softly glowing.
It’s amazing how quickly a room can change when you bring in a piece of art that has a bit of heart and colour in it. A little colour can breathe new life into a space — it softens the edges, lifts the mood, and suddenly everything feels that little bit warmer and more you.

This is a simple reminder of why I love working with colour so much. Even one painting can shift the energy of a room in the gentlest, most uplifting way.

If your walls could talk… they’d ask for this.
A touch of joy, a bit of light, something that makes you breathe out when you walk in.

Do you feel the difference when art is on your walls? I’d love to know which colours make your home feel alive. ✨

I'm Kate & I paint colour, calm and coastal light. 💙
Born in Warsaw in the communist era, my summers were spent in the Polish countryside — golden light, open meadows, freedom. That contrast shaped everything.
Now living on the Dorset coast, I paint to capture that feeling - warmth, calm by the sea, freedom.
Painting is my sanctuary. I hope when you look at my work, you feel it too. 💛

There’s nothing quite like a handful of glowing reviews to put the biggest smile on my face. 💛
Seeing your five-star messages all together like this… wow. It really does mean the world.

Thank you so much to everyone who’s taken the time to leave a review. It might seem like a small thing, but it makes such a huge difference to a small business like mine.

What if your walls reminded you every single morning that joy is yours to choose? 💛

That's exactly what 'Joy On Purpose' does. The third piece in my 'Joy by Design' collection — painted with complete intention and a whole lot of bright, vivid pink. For the one who knows that joy isn't something that just arrives. It's something you reach for, on purpose, every single day.

I’m Kate, an abstract artist inspired by colour, the coastline, and the quiet beauty that brings a sense of calm and renewal.
I was born in Warsaw during the communist era, where everything felt grey and heavy. But my summers in the Polish countryside were filled with golden light, open meadows, and the kind of freedom that stays with you forever.
When I paint, I'm chasing that feeling — the warmth of those childhood summers, the calm I find standing at the Dorset coast, the way colour can soften the edges of life and help us breathe again.
My work blends expressive movement with gentle serenity. I'm drawn to soft, luminous tones — turquoise, blush pink, sea-glass blue — and I paint with oils in layers, letting intuition guide me.
Painting is my sanctuary. It's where I reconnect with wonder, possibility, and my truest self. And my hope is that when you look at my work, you feel that same sense of calm and light.
Thank you for being here 💛

What’s your favourite?
I’ve been having a little play with ‘Endless Summer’ in different frames, and honestly… it’s amazing how much the vibe changes with each one. A light wood frame feels so soft and natural, white keeps everything bright and airy, and black adds that gorgeous bit of contrast that makes the colours pop like sunshine.

Sometimes the frame becomes part of the story — calm, bold, warm, minimal… it all makes a difference.

Which one is calling your name? I’d love to know. 💛✨

Studio life. Paint everywhere. No regrets. 🎨

I'm Kate — abstract artist from Dorset, painting colour, calm and a little coastal magic into every piece. My work is inspired by the sea, the garden, the light on the water and the belief that the right painting can genuinely transform how a home feels.

This is where it all begins. 💛

Izzy’s message honestly made my whole day. 💛
There’s something really special about hearing how a piece lands with someone — how it looks in their home, how it makes them feel, and that little spark of joy it brings.

Sharing her lovely review over this close-up of ‘Leap of Faith’ felt so right. That piece has such a gentle strength to it, and knowing it’s found a home where it’s loved just means everything.

This painting almost didn't happen. 🌊 The board sat in my studio for months — I'd planned a literal seascape, but every time I picked up a brush something stopped me. So I followed instinct instead.
What came out were the colours living in my imagination — turquoise like shallow water, sandy shallows, dark reef shapes beneath.
That's where 'Courage to Grow' came from
