Official Project Page for Mick Ryan's latest Folk Opera 'Here At The Fair'
The show explores the lives of travelling show people circa 1850, a time of great social and political upheaval. Partly inspired by characters in Dickens' 'Nicholas Nickleby' and Charlie Chaplin's 'Limelight', we meet veteran actor Vincent Crummles and his dancer daughter Ninetta ('The Infant Phenomenon'), a clown, a quack

doctor, a fortune teller, and a ballad seller and a flea circus presenter. Behind the face each presents to the world is a back story which unfolds during the show to address the issue of the relevance of the lives they lead and the 'mere escapism' they offer the public. Crowdfunders will be backing production and promotion of the show through to performance next year - everyone who pledges will have a personal thank you in the show programme - get involved!

Hello all - an update on 'Here At The Fair' - so far we have done two performances, both of which had a tremendous reception, with really positive feedback. The audiences were able to follow the narrative and the performers fantastic.

The next performance of 'Here At The Fair' will take place on Saturday 6th October, at the Tenterden Folk Festival in Kent. Details can be found here:

Hello,

Thanks to our generous Crowdfunders, by the end of October we had raised £575 for this project, which is excellent

Also, as the cast is now confirmed, the first full cast rehearsal will take place on November 18th. All going well - more updates soon!
