THE 2024 ‘PEOPLES HONOURS’ TO BE PRESENTED
AT THE PALACE OF WESTMINSTER
Christian Foster, from Dorset, is among 26 exceptional individuals to be honoured with the esteemed British Citizen Award (BCA) at the Palace of Westminster. This recognition celebrates their outstanding contributions to society.
The Medal Presentation, set for Thursday 25th July 2024, will see Christian receive the coveted BCA Medal of Honour for Services to the Community (BCAc). Recipients are entitled to use the post-nominals commemorating their achievements.
Chrissy started an all-inclusive community choir over 10 years ago, combining her love of music with bringing people together. Chrissy is a conductor and leader, bringing out the best in each choir member, welcoming everyone regardless of talent, physical ability, or mental health. Her passion for music and singing is contagious, as is her commitment to nurturing talent. Chrissie believes in camaraderie, growth and joy, bringing people together to sing epitomises all of those things.
Chrissy runs three choirs, originally ‘Bittersweet Harmony, followed by a choir specifically for Carers, providing them with a brief respite from their caring role ‘Care Free Choir’, then a further ‘Breathless Singers’, for people who have been diagnosed with chronic breathing and respiratory conditions.
All three groups perform in the local community, hospitals, hospices, care homes and special needs schools, as well as at local festivals where they raise money for local charities. Chrissy’s choirs have created an inclusive environment, regardless of health or ability, that bring people together, bringing out the unique strengths of each choir member and blending them seamlessly together to create harmonies and performances.
Stephanie Wood from BCA Partner One Stop commented, "This year's medalists exemplify the incredible support within our communities, especially during challenging times. We're honoured to partner with the BCA and play a part in recognising these exceptional individuals."
The presentation, hosted by TV presenter Matt Allwright, will be attended by BCA Patrons Dame Mary Perkins, Founder of Specsavers, and The Rt Hon Lord Dholakia. Following the ceremony, medalists will enjoy an Open Top Lap of Honour tour and a certificate presentation at another distinguished Westminster venue.
