That's a wrap!

Today we celebrated the last official day of our Level 3 Year 1 students with the much-anticipated Jellicoe Film Festival.

Every film showcased was completely original, conceived, filmed, and edited by this incredibly talented group of students.

The theme this year was "Dress to Impress", and it's safe to say they absolutely smashed the brief!

We're incredibly proud of everything this cohort has accomplished and can't wait to see what they create when they return for Year 2.

It's not over yet as we still have Cre8fest 2026! A chance to showcase some work, celebrate success and performing arts gets to close the final award ceremony.

Exciting progress with our new Performing Arts Podcast Studio!

Our brand-new Rode equipment has arrived, and it turns out the space doubles up as a pretty handy recording studio too.

Sydney stepped in to help us test everything out and laid down some fantastic vocals, really impressed with how it's sounding already!

Now all that's left is a bit of decorating and finishing touches before we're ready to open the doors next year.

We're excited to share that Richard Batt, Performing Arts Lecturer here at the Jellicoe Theatre, is preparing to begin production on his latest short film, Grandead.

Written and developed over many years, Grandead is a dark comedy horror exploring ageing, memory, family, and the consequences of a miracle cure that may be too good to be true.

The project brings together professional actors, filmmakers, and creatives from across the region and demonstrates the importance of continuing creative practice alongside teaching. Experiences gained through projects like this help bring current industry knowledge, processes, and opportunities back into the classroom for our students.

With filming beginning in just six weeks, the production team has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help support the final stages of the project. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1140827867/gran-dead-short-film

If you'd like to learn more about the film, follow the Grandead page for behind-the-scenes updates, production news, and progress towards the shoot.

We wish Richard and the entire team the very best as they bring this exciting project to life.
