I've been having fun with a program called GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Programme). It's like photoshop but free and open source. I can't draw to save my life (my handwriting looks like a doctor's). I decided to scribble what could be a map and then play with it in GIMP ......

Back to Basics GIMP Remove background and add new background

In this video, I have used a photograph of my dog to remove the background using the foreground select tool and created a new background. This video also shows me getting lost trying to find a tool (I'm only human) and breifly introduces some of the more random things that can be done in GIMP.

I will (at some point) make a fuller video showing someof the effects I've used on the background and on the colour matching technique shown. This is not the only way to remove a background however, I wanted to try and keep things simple for removing the background of a more complex subject (such as my pet cockapoo).

Back to Basics - Reaper -Record a whole song from scratch.

In this video I show how to record a whole song from scratch. To give an idea of some of the tools available, I have used and external midi keyboard to do the drums and the virtual midi keyboard for the bass and guitar amp sims for the live guitar. Please forgive the lack of creativity and terrible playing. The purpose of this video is not for me to record somethng amazing but to teach newbies ho wthey can start.

I have not shown how to use the midi editor in depth (I will make a video another day for that however, there are many available (I highly recomend reaper mania for the existing videos)) nor the effects in depth (yet again, check out reaper mania or simply hava play around with the effect settings).

Third party plugins I use are all FREE.:

MT Powerdrums
Ample P Bass Lite
Boogex (by Voxengo)

There are a lot of other free instrument plugins available for reaper so feel free to use whatever suits you best.

I hope this video helps you get started and I hope you enjoy it.
