It's definitely looking like woolly sock weather is on it's way!

September always feels a bit like New Year, probably because the kids go back to school and we start thinking about learning new skills ourselves as well as building on current ones. Our Autumn courses begin with our Learn to Spin day and then at the end of the month, a Learn the Basics day for those who would like to make socks.

Lots of knitters already knit socks from the cuff-down, finishing with a grafted join on the toe. This class teaches how to knit socks beginning at the toes, starting with a cast-on to create a seamless toe and then carrying on to finish at the cuff. It's quite an enjoyable method and avoids the dreaded Kitchener stitch!

I've just really enjoyed knitting up a test garment for a child-sized Elegy to Morfa jumper. It's an age 3-4 and made in King Cole Cottonsoft with Rico Spin Spin as the contrast. The pattern is a really enjoyable make and we now have five different versions of it. The three original ones launched at Wonderwool, a short sleeved cotton adult version and the cotton kids one. If a jumper feels a bit much then we have also adapted the slip-stitch neck pattern for a hat and a cowl so why not have a go?

There's five Saturdays in the month so this Saturday is Sew Up Saturday.
Between 10am till 12 noon, come along and put those unfinished projects to bed with some help and motivation from us. If you don't have anything to finish, make is Start Up Saturday instead and come and choose a new project!

It has definitely been a day for opening boxes!
Stylecraft has just launched Naturals Pure Wool, a fantastic, soft merino yarn which matches the colours of Stylecraft Special. 32 colours have been launched with some lovely supporting patterns in both knitting and crochet. We can't wait to get started.

Back from holiday to new stock arriving!
I've just unboxed some new stock from Rico including a beautifully soft degrade 4-p;y which is ideal for projects. For socks, pull from the inside for one sock and outside for the other to give a matching pair.
We've also added to the colours of the Make it Flowers and added Make it Rocaille to the knit-in yarns.
Finally, some new Ricorumi pattern books completed the order.
The new Stylecraft comes in today so there'll be more exciting yarns to share later.
