Our mission is to use dance to inclusively engage people and communities within Plymouth and the surrounding areas. With compassion and integrity, we connect, create, and celebrate dance by delivering citywide partnership projects. Using dance as a vehicle, we holistically nourish, enrich and empower s

ocial change. Plymouth Dance relaunched April 2024, with a new Leadership Team of Chloe Brown, June Gamble, Sophie Hocking, Kaitlyn Howlett, Anneliese Kesteven and Beth Tiner. Plymouth Dance delivers dance sessions across Educational and Community settings in Plymouth and the surrounding areas.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS MONDAY 7th SEPTEMBER 2026, 11.59PM🚨

PLYMOUTH YOUTH DANCE COMPANY Audition Day - Saturday 12th September 2026, 10AM–1PM.

Plymouth Youth Dance Company is a partnership project, created and managed by BBarbican Theatre Plymouth Dance CIC, and TTheatre Royal Plymouth PYDC is an exciting addition to the existing youth dance offers in the city, paving the way for young dancers interested in further study and/or a career in dance.
This is a brilliant opportunity for dancers of all genders and from all backgrounds to be a dance company member, develop their technical and creative skills, and take their dance training to a whole new level.

There will be 12 sessions over 2 terms, which will take place on Saturdays 10AM to 1PM (dates specified on the application form). In addition to the company sessions, PYDC will have 3 extra sessions as a Summer Intensive, and will perform, attend performances, and have access to various career enhancing opportunities.

Criteria:
*14-19 yrs.
*At least 3 years dance experience e.g. through school, private dance school, youth dance group etc.
*Considering dance in Higher Education and/or a career in dance.
*Able to commit to the dates and times specified in the application form.

FEES: The cost per term is £150, total of £300 for the year including the Summer Intensive. Please note, that there are a number of discretionary bursaries available.

Philly Rule is the Artistic Director for PYDC. Philly is a freelance Dance Artist from Devon and a Middlesex University Graduate. She has been facilitating, producing and delivering contemporary and creative movement experiences in community and educational settings nationwide for over 7 years. Taking pride in her co-creative and collaborative approach to movement, Philly makes it her mission to nurture the next generation of dancers from the South West.

Community Arts Practitioner Training Course 2026 - 27

Starting September 2026, this 1 year course will equip you with a Level 3 teaching qualification, certificates in Health & Safety, Safeguarding, First Aid, Mental Health Awareness, Mental Health First Aid and Advocacy, and you’ll also develop a wide range of skills to support you to work in different community settings and to navigate life as a freelancer.

Sessions will be delivered on Fridays in term time in central Plymouth.
You’ll need to be aged 19+ by 31 August 2026, be able to commit to weekly learning sessions, and be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in developing as an inclusive creative community practitioner.

Check out a testimony from one of our participants of our Community Arts Practitioner Training Course 2025-26!

🌻Secondary Fit and Fed week 1 🌻

What a brilliant first week of our Secondary Fit and Fed! Our young people did crafts using clay, making keyrings and pencil cases, and did lots of dancing and had a trip to the park!
