Plymouth Dance connects, creates and celebrates dance in the city with compassion and integrity. Our mission is to use dance to inclusively engage people and communities within Plymouth and the surrounding areas. With compassion and integrity, we connect, create, and celebrate dance by delivering citywide partnership projects. Using dance as a vehicle, we holistically nourish, enrich and empower s

ocial change. Plymouth Dance relaunched April 2024, with a new Leadership Team of Chloe Brown, June Gamble, Sophie Hocking, Kaitlyn Howlett, Anneliese Kesteven and Beth Tiner. Plymouth Dance delivers dance sessions across Educational and Community settings in Plymouth and the surrounding areas.

Community Arts Practitioner Training Course 2026 - 27

Starting September 2026, this 1 year course will equip you with a Level 3 teaching qualification, certificates in Health & Safety, Safeguarding, First Aid, Mental Health Awareness, Mental Health First Aid and Advocacy, and you’ll also develop a wide range of skills to support you to work in different community settings and to navigate life as a freelancer.

Sessions will be delivered on Fridays in term time in central Plymouth.
You’ll need to be aged 19+ by 31 August 2026, be able to commit to weekly learning sessions, and be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in developing as an inclusive creative community practitioner.

✨Fusion Dance Platform 2026✨

Our Plymouth Youth Dance Company are performing at Fusion Dance Platform on Wednesday 1st July at 6:30pm at Plympton Academy.

Bringing together a vibrant collection of works from students across Years 7–11, the evening will also feature guest performances from local dance schools, contributions from primary school dancers, and inspiring professional works, creating a rich and dynamic programme.

🌊 MUFFIN Performance at Plymouth Sound National Marine Park 🐠

On Monday 8th June the young people from the Deaf Education Centre at Eggbuckland Vale Primary School performed at the Deaf Marine Day MUFFIN Conference at the Marine Station.

We performed our dance piece using the new BSL signs of marine life you would find local to Plymouth. These new signs include species such as the Moon Jellyfish, the Periwinkle, the Edible Crab and more.

The young people were absolutely amazing, and we are so proud of them! To celebrate they got a well deserved ice cream down the Barbican!

A big thank you to Plymouth Sound National Marine Park for inviting us to perform during such a wonderful event. To Fotonow CIC, who are currently creating a dance film to show our creative process during this project. To the National Deaf Children's Society, as without their community grant the filming process and performance opportunities of this project would not have been possible.
Finally the biggest thank you to all the young people of the DEC at Eggbuckland Vale, who worked so hard and made us so proud.

🪼Project MUFFIN - National Marine Aquarium Trip🐠

Plymouth Dance recently took the young people of the Deaf Education Centre at Eggbuckland Vale Primary School to the National Marine Aquarium, as part project MUFFIN, which to make marine science and environmental engagement more accessible to Deaf communities. Plymouth Sound National Marine Park and the The University of Edinburgh
BSL Glossary Project have launched a pioneering partnership supporting the launch of project MUFFIN.

Using the brand new BSL marine life signs of species you would find locally to Plymouth, Plymouth Dance and the young people of the DEC have created a dance piece, which will be performed live at the MUFFIN Conference at Plymouth Sound National Marine Park on Monday 8th June 2026.

Our trip to the aquarium gave the young people the experience of seeing these species in real life, and we had a fantastic time spotting all of our new signs and dancing in front of the tank!

We can’t wait for our performance on Monday!

A big thank you to the National Deaf Children's Society for their community grant, which has helped us be part of this landmark occasion.

🪼Jellyfish fun at Eggbuckland Vale Primary School🪼

During our dance club at Eggbuckland Vale Primary School, the young people got creative with some jellyfish inspired dance moves!

✨Plymouth Youth Dance Company✨

What a great last term we had at PYDC! The group continued creating and moving, and have been working really hard as a collective!

We look forward to what the group are going to create this term!
