Yesterday we celebrated our lovely Sam’s 18th birthday! 🎉

I’m not quite sure how we got to 18 so quickly, Sam! You have grown into the most remarkable young person. Over the years, we have watched you grow in confidence and flourish into the most amazing performer, and it has been such a privilege to see your journey.

Yesterday, we went around the room and shared something special about Sam, and the words that kept coming up were caring, kind, fun, and supportive and that couldn’t be more true. You are one of the hardest workers we know, always bringing incredible energy to everything you do, always being there for your peers, and of course, we can’t forget your epic fancy-dress outfits! ✨

Sam, you are truly amazing, and we are so proud of the person you have become. We hope you had the most wonderful 18th birthday and that this next chapter brings you every happiness and success.

Here’s to the start of adulthood, may all your dreams come true. We’ll be cheering you on and supporting you every step of the way. 💜

👑 ARE YOU READY TO BE A QUEEN? 👑

This Summer, our Junior performers will be taking on the smash-hit musical SIX! 🎤✨

From Wednesday 5th – Friday 7th August, students will spend three exciting days learning songs, choreography, scenes, and performance skills inspired by one of the most popular musicals in the world right now.

Perfect for children who love musical theatre, performing, making friends, and having lots of fun during the Summer holidays.

Throughout the three days, students will:
✨ Build confidence
✨ Learn exciting choreography
✨ Develop performance skills

✨ Work towards a showcase performance for family and friends

Our Summer Schools are known for creating a supportive environment where every child can shine, regardless of experience. Whether they're already theatre-mad or trying something new, they'll be welcomed into an amazing week of creativity, laughter, and performance.

WOW of the week goes to Darcy S! Great work 🌟

Darcy, you have been working so hard in ballet. Your technique is improving beautifully, and you always work hard to apply any corrections as soon as you can. During the summer show rehearsals, you really impressed me with your stage performance. You truly shone and looked full of happiness and joy while performing. Your enthusiasm and confidence were wonderful to see. Well done, Darcy—keep up the hard work!

Darcy, you have been doing so well in Lil Beatz and Musical Theatre. You are practicing hard for your show numbers and remembering the choreography and lyrics really well. Your singing line in your Musical Theatre piece is sounding lovely and it’s a pleasure to see you improve on this each week. I really thought you shone in your show rehearsals, impressing all the teachers with your performance and style. The most important thing is that you love to dance and that shows very clearly whenever you are in class or performing. Well done Darcy, some brilliant work.

Now the big question is… who will be getting Roxy or Busta next time? 👀💃🕺

🌟 FINALIST ANNOUNCEMENT 🌟

We are absolutely delighted to share that our student Charlotte Tall has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Arts & Culture category at the YMCA Plymouth & Plymouth City Council Youth Awards! 🎭✨

To be selected as one of only three finalists in her category is an incredible achievement, and we couldn't be prouder 🥰

Charlotte's journey has been one of determination, resilience, and passion. Through her love of musical theatre, she has continued to grow in confidence, embrace every opportunity, and inspire those around her. She is a valued member of our SJ family, and it is wonderful to see her recognised for the positive impact that the arts have had on her life and the contribution she makes to our community.

Due to the HUGE popularity and demand for our Mini’s workshops, this Summer we are so excited to be running TWO magical Mini’s School sessions! ✨

Designed especially for ages 3–6, our Mini’s workshops are the perfect introduction to performing arts through singing, dancing, storytelling, games, imagination, and LOTS of fun 💛
