Beast review hunter🐺🗡️🫲🧔edition by and provided by .
Last time I played Beast I played as a beast, now playing as a human it is just as good as playing as a beast but a different type of good.
-Quick summary -
Beast is a hidden movement game with drafting elements where the Beast player attacks in the shadows and tries to complete objectives for different end of rounds/nights and it’s main objective which is how the Beast wins the game. The hunters also have night and a main objectives which usually include finding and killing the Beast, and protecting certain civilians.
Every hunter starts with 3 personal cards and and a specific player board, same with the beast but they’re 4 cards. At the start of a round depending on the player count each player drafts a hand of action cards including the Beast.

-Thoughts on being a hunter🗡️🧔
I played as Assar the scout, first game I played as the hunter we killed Fangir🐺👑 really quickly, then my dad played the Beast as Fangir🐺👑 we had a longer game.

-What I liked about being a hunter🗡️🧔 What I really enjoyed about being the hunter is the discussion of where the beast is and that spike of excitement when you find a trail( trails🐾 are found when you walk into a location where the Beast had been since it’s last confirmed sighting). It is fun to be cooperative. I also like how if you are on a location with a civilian and the beast tries to attack with its self or its summons then the damage goes to the hunter (I only learnt this near the end of the game, when I play again I would push to spread the hunters throughout the map).

What I liked in general
- I still enjoy the card drafting and synergy, it is a nice puzzle trying to track the beast’s thoughts and location.
- I played this game at 5 players, Beast base is a 2-4 player game but the player count is based on the contract/objectives you’re given so did a really cool thing and made a place where you can share and create custom contracts.
- It is called The Creators Guild so go check it out.

In conclusion
I really enjoyed playing as a hunter and I am really excited to face or be another Beast.

Age of Galaxy 2nd edition👽 by and
1-4 players
AoG is a worker placement game with multi-use cards where you ally with 3 species, colonise plants, gain prestige for your galactic empire, be a warlord or protect your planet from the warlord and finally fulfil your empire ideology to get extra points.

What I liked🤩
- Components are amazing quality
- Card synergies and tightness of gameplay with only 7 species cards for each game makes the game have high replayability
- How some actions are restricted until you meet the requirements, it makes you feel like you’re actually developing a galactic empire and also to colonise certain planets you must have certain species in your alliance.
- The expanding board of planets each round
- The tight decisions and the player interaction of players colonising first and the threat of warlord player taking over your planets
- The research action allows you to unlock cool skills on your player board and some species cards.

What I didn’t like so much
- Some of components like player disk green and cyan are similar and may confuse players.
- I do love a very tight game but if you pick the wrong species card to ally with in this game your entire game may be screwed.

Conclusion
In conclusion If you want a tight space game which has aspects of SETI and Lord of waterdeep then AoG 2nd edition is a great game for you.
I am very glad I picked up AoG 2nd edition at UKGE 2026😁!

This weeks theme is “Family”.

For me as a designer “Family” would be one of the most important parts.

For me the magic of game design, as well as creating the mechanics of the game. It is also creating how the game makes players engage with other players, which allows us to form memories.

In future games, I look to create games with lots of player interaction, so that I can make more memories, as I feel like player interaction is very important in game design personally😁.

What’s your thoughts on player interactions?

If you didn’t know, as well as being a board game enthusiast I have a passion for psychology.

I really think psychology and game design could work well together, and I am always on the look out for psychology based games.

A recent game I would like to introduce to you is a kickstarter, called (THE WELL BEING GAME🟣). Although a bit of an uncreative name, it got a lot of things right in combining well being with game design.

What interests me about this game is as well as the normal well being talk from other games, it also adds a secret objectives mechanic and a bit more choice about the cards you play/answer.

The game is also constructed with a current model of well being in mind.

It’s nice seeing designers create a game which combines psychology and board game😄.

Mini review (Bomb busters💣)

Bomb busters💣 is a cooperative game where you try not to explode😁.
In the game players have wires🪢 hidden in their hand secretly and their wires🪢 numbered 1️⃣ to 1️⃣2️⃣ and there are four wires of each number e.g. (There are four 3️⃣wires in the game).
In the players hand the wires🪢 are ordered in ascending order and each player starts with an info token💡 which indicates a position of one of the wires.

The aim of the game is to try to match all the wires🪢, you can match with other players or yourself.
Extra info token💡is given showing the true value of the wrong wire🪢, (if you cut the wrong wire🪢 ) and also you will be 1 dial closer to exploding💥.

What I liked so far😁 As an expert in exploding, making several boom potions in Quacks🧪💥, I have to say I have not exploded yet and this is because in Bomb busters💣 you do sometimes need to take risks and take a random guess, but most of the time the number can be deduced if you think hard enough😄
Bomb Buster💣 has 66 missions and I have only played to mission 9 so far, but I am so excited to try out the next missions because it feels like each mission is adding a new interesting complexity and puzzle to solve.
Also the game comes with a mystery box which is where new mechanics and missions come from Can be quite quick

What I liked less so far😅 Experience best going mission to mission so for the early missions, the person who has already played that mission may be a bit bored. If you don’t like stickers, in the mystery boxes there are some stickers.
Just to warn if you find stickers distressing( I am saying this because they are to me😬)

I am so glad I bought Bomb Busters💣, I felt like it was going to be a blast to play with people and it was explosive 💥😁!

First thoughts (Beast🔥🐗💥)

Beast is a hidden movement game which consists of drafting elements and glorious card synergies, where one player is the Beast who hides from the hunters and creates a path of destruction while completing the contract objective .

The hunters try to work together to kill and find the Beast or complete the contract objective.

— My First game —
I played as the Beast Hogbad which is a massive flaming boar🐗🔥 and I found it very enjoyable ramming into the hunters out of the shadows🤣.

Hogbad is a very good pick if you play as the Beast if you want to be less stealthy and more bash. (Especially if you home into summoning lots of warhogs)😂.

I won my first game as the Beast and I can’t really say for the hunters experience but I had a blast with the card synergies, drafting, asymmetric characters and upgrades to your character.

I have so much more to explore with Beast with the 6 unique hunters, 6 unique beasts + different contracts and I am so excited to play some more games of Beast🐗💥🔥.
