So, what is Ambient Venue Lighting/Mood Lighting/Uplighting and why do I need it?
'Uplighting' is the art of transforming a dull and drab venue into a wonderland of colour. LED lights are placed carefully around your venue to emphasise architectural features such as arches, windows, columns and decorative plaster mouldings to bring the space to life. Most function rooms and hotel suites are white washed and have a very sterile feel. Uplighting can fill the space with coloured light to match your chosen theme and make a real difference to the professionalism of your event. You can also uplight the underneath of tables, drapes and centre pieces. All of our lights are LED so no heat is emitted, totally eliminating fire hazards. But I've already booked a DJ/Mobile Disco/Band, why do I need to pay extra for this service? Most Bands and DJs will bring some lighting, but generally this will only cover themselves and the dance floor. If you have a larger venue and have more than 100 people attending then the rest of the space can seem dim, cavernous and be in darkness for the whole evening. With our LED uplighting service you can choose from many options of colour and movement for the whole venue, this will help to keep your guests energised and feel like part of the event even when they are at the bar or sitting away from the dance floor. I have a very strict venue which won't allow sticky tape on the floor. How can you help with this if there are going to be extra lights and cables everywhere? We use a relatively new system of wireless control. This cuts down on set up time, running metres of unsightly cable and having to tape them to the floor for safety. For the stricter venues we also have a number of completely wireless fixtures which run on battery power, so no cables or tape whatsoever! What colours can I choose for my venue, and can I change it throughout the night? The answer is, almost endless! You could have a bold primary colour or a pastel shade, a combination of colours in sequence or a chase effect around the room. The system can be set up and left on a static colour, or we can instruct you on how to use the easy-to-operate controller should you wish to alter the mood at certain times during the event. How much is it then? This will depend on the size of your venue and how many uplighters we need to deploy. As each event is unique, we include a venue visit ahead of your event by our lighting designer who will look at the space and decide on the best placement for the uplighters. This is a very cost-effective solution to transform your venue. The guide below will give you an idea of the price of the service. Unlike other companies, we don't charge by the hour so the length of your event will not add to the cost. We can even arrange a free demonstration of the uplighting effect on request at your venue. Small to medium venue (e.g. village hall or pub function room): £50
Large venue (e.g. hotel function suite, ball room or country house): £100
Also, if you have already booked the Rock Academy for either the main entertainment or band support, you will get the uplighting service included in the mobile disco hire fee!
