and dance/ performance. One of its principle aims is to provide access to a programme of wide-ranging high quality arts and cultural experiences, which is informed by the expertise, research and scholarship of the University and its partners, to the communities of Plymouth and the South West and visitors to the region. Submergenceย is an immersive installation by Squidsoup () whose works pioneer the use of light, sound and technology.

It has been shown in over 70 spaces, events and festivals on six continents and is now on display in The Levinsky Gallery, within University of Plymouth's Roland Levinsky Building, until Saturday 9 August.

A series of workshops will also be held for autistic people. Although Submergence was designed as a playful experience, many neurodivergent people have reported feeling calmer, more focused and more engaged while experiencing it.

Professor Chris Bennewith, Executive Dean of Arts, Humanities and Business at the University, has worked with Squidsoup for many years and will co-deliver the workshops as part of ongoing research with Squidsoup founder Dr Anthony Rowe.

We are delighted to announce two events with HENRY DANIEL Professor Emeritus in Dance, Performance Studies, and New Media Technologies, on Wednesday 5 February โ€“ a Creative Talk open to everyone and a Research Roundtable for staff and postgraduate research students at University of Plymouth and Arts University Plymouth.

Henry Daniel (Professor Emeritus in Dance, Performance Studies and New Media Technologies) is a practitioner-researcher with a professional background in dance, theatre, and new media via a career that started in his native Trinidad & Tobago and continued in the USA, Germany, the UK, Canada and Mexico.

He has led and continues to lead advances in cultural knowledge by bringing to bear the perspectives and skills of the artist/scholar. Through his collaborations with researchers from the fields of science and engineering, he enables and contributes to technological innovation. As well, his ongoing preoccupation with issues of identity and diaspora and its roots in a colonizing process begun in the late fifteenth century allows him to engage with the issue of how contemporary bodies perform, and hence transform, their sense of place, space, and identity.
