Indie

A work colleague, Christine, missed her dog "Indie" A lot and asked if I would a drawing. Christine is aware I use Pastels and normally do portraiture, but with her dog passing away last year, this felt appropriate. I only used Pastel pencils with this drawing and Pastel mat Paper, light blue. I enjoyed this drawing because I knew the person.

A version of Irene

A version of Irene - giving her back some youthfulness, yet shows the shadow of dementia at her back, and highlights her red, red fiery opposition and fight against everything. The light she always seems to look toward is there. It's the face of the Irene I knew and still retains her look.
My first attempt at a portrait, not perfect, but I like it, and it's been a great learning curve. Acrylic on canvas, 3ft square approx.

Sails of my heart

I was asked to do a commission with specific colours to match a room and idea of boats on water so I did my own interpretation to bring some tranquility and peace, size is 60cm x 60cm with acrylics on canvas and all from my own inspiration, I love to bring a piece of my heart to every piece I do and the sail boat reflected that peace and calm, I am a self taught artist and it brings so much joy to share my work thank you for looking ❤️

Mount Batten rock

This is only my 4th painting. It's mixed media, mainly acrylic and on canvas - it's 3 4 inch by 2 8 inch. I was unable to sea swim due to a period of illness at the end of last year and, as I missed the sea so much, I decided to paint it. I have regularly swam alongside shoals of fish, cormorants, shags, and the occasional passing seal at Mount Batten beach rock, Plymouth. The rock itself is a true limestone jewel, full of interesting shapes and sea life. I absolutely love this rock, and this is why I had to paint it and why it had to take centre stage in my painting.

Brothers 🐈‍⬛🌈

I am a self-taught artist since 2017 who is still experimenting different techniques and mediums. I am enjoying this journey in my quest to improve and share my art with people. It's nice to see the joy how much a gift of art means to people.
Brothers is the name of this piece of art, which is a gift for my husband of Fenton 🐈‍⬛ & Otis 🌈.
A4 chalk pastels on pastel Matt paper.

New Beginnings

Painted this picture with acrylics on canvas for a lady who contacted me on marketplace asking if I could do a bigger picture for her bedroom with specific flowers foxgloves and stocks in pinks and whites and then added some bees for her as requested, it was such a joy to do as I am self taught artist and just keep trying again and again and my work has evolved so much recently I would love to do this full time as currently working part time in a superstore, I love all nature and sea scapes and forests are a particular favourite and animals, it?s such a pleasure to create and hope I can continue getting better, thank you for looking and please feel free to look up my pages on Instagram ,Nicky

'Wot Appened!?'

This is a self-portrait which shows me at 20, 30, 40, 50, then, when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and on an oxygen machine.

The identity changes as the peripheral images are self-assured. The middle character looks shocked and the difference goes way deeper. Moving into the world of disability is not easy but it teaches so much including a sense of humour, loss of ego, empathy, greater freedom and a joy of embracing life to the full and what really matters.
