A first outing for 'Happily Ever Laughter' last night in Fintry with FADS and The Wee Perthshire Dram-a Company - and a very happy one!

This was the first time the play had ever been heard by a public audience, as part of a rehearsed reading alongside 'A Thousand Invisible Choices'.

As a writer, hearing your script in front of an audience for the first time is fantastic... You quickly find out where the laughs come and where it can still be sharpened. And I couldn’t have asked for a better first response. Plenty of laughter, some wonderfully big reactions, and lots for me to take away from the evening.

Happily Ever Laughter is a riotous comedy and is available for performance.

This Saturday, one of my scripts - ‘Happily Ever Laughter’, will have its first live rehearsed reading 😊

It’s always a really interesting stage in the life of a new play: hearing it properly in front of an audience for the first time and finding out what lands!🤞

It will be performed alongside the well-established and award-winning ‘A Thousand Invisible Choices’ in an evening of entertainment hosted by the wonderful FADS - Fintry Amateur Dramatic Society.

Always exciting to see a new script take its first steps off the page!

It was lovely to see A Thousand Invisible Choices performed as part of Dundee Fringe last weekend by The Wee Perthshire Dram-a Company.

It’s so rewarding to watch a play continue to have a life beyond its first performance - meeting new audiences in different places and, hopefully, connecting with them in slightly different ways each time.

Also, delighted to receive a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review from Binge Fringe Magazine 🎉

I’m never quite sure whether being in a play you’ve written yourself is a good idea… or something a playwright should avoid at all costs! 😄

There are probably arguments both ways - but for better or worse, I’ll be stepping back into the shoes of Cam, a character I’ve become rather fond of over the past few months, on Friday night at Caputh Village Hall with The Wee Perthshire Dram-a Company

And apparently this is my favourite line…

I've finally got round to putting together a website for my one-act plays!

There’s a synopsis, cast size and running time for each play, which will hopefully make it a little easier for theatre groups to browse through.

This Saturday ‘A Thousand Invisible Choices’ will be performed for the fifth time - something you hope for when you write a play… but never really expect!

The play has had an incredible journey, reaching the Scottish Community Drama Association One-Act Finals, and I was honoured that the script received the Geoffrey Whitworth Trophy for Best Original Script at the British One-Act Finals.

I’m delighted it’s returning to Blairgowrie as part of an evening of entertainment from The Wee Perthshire Dram-a Company alongside the wonderfully quirky ‘Max Dix, Zero to Six’.

Delighted to be spending this weekend at the British One Act Finals.

Not every day you find yourself in a festival programme like this!
