How do you build a giant sand mound around an actor who stays in almost exactly the same spot? 🤔
Siobhán Redmond takes us behind the scenes of HAPPY DAYS for an early look at our workshop and production teams creating Winnie’s world.
In Nobel Prize-winning playwright Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days, Winnie spends almost the entire play in one position, buried in an ever-rising mound. Before the final set takes shape, that means testing everything from height and positioning to sightlines, movement and how the world of the play works around her.
Welcome to the extremely precise art of getting stuck in the right place. 🏖️
📆 Enter Winnie’s world as HAPPY DAYS transforms our Studio into a place of absurdity, optimism and survival from 18 Sep - 10 Oct.
